Mcfarlane has a distinct way of drawing hair, eyes & noses in particular. He tends to augment the cheeks on the face. A glance at Coyote 11 shows the lines on the faces are thicker than his. The hair is not drawn in that flowy Mcfarlane style. I wanna say the whole 13 cover is his but I'm not entirely sure? I'm not sure the Coyote part is his even though it resembles his art a bit. Clearly the Scorpio Rose section is him.

Coyote was cancelled not long after Mcfarlane got there. Another one of his works that's under the radar is All Star Squadron 47 for DC right after Coyote and pre Batman. That cover does fully appear to be his artwork. Unfortunately it's not clear which is his first solo cover? It could either be Infinity 14, Coyote 13 or All star 47?

Mcfarlane said in an interview he got his style from Akira and that he did a poor man's version of it and that people were calling him a genius

Mcfarlane is obsessed with Japanese Anime. I think sometimes he's more interested in trying to sell those damn Akira action figures than Spawn lol

That's being modest. He could draw Akira with as much detail if he wanted to even blindfolded

Not entirely sure its his first but I believe its "Secrets of Haunted house" 44 by DC in '82. Those were his baseball playing days lol

How's that for trivia!

He has a letter in Arak 1, which predates that one, but I don't know if anything else is before that one.

If anyone DOES change the name of this thread, it would be great if they could just get rid of the apostrophe. :foryou:

You could console yourself by interpreting the title as "Copper is Heating/Selling Well on Ebay.

Cry for Dawn (1989) #1 2nd print - seems this series is heating up

9.6 went for $455

9.8 went for $1,600

There have only been about 4 of us who collect that title.  Just moving to 5 collectors would be a 25% increase. lol
