Been busy running around the country looking at collections and going to conventions, so I have not had a chance to post in this thread yet this year and need to pack and put away all these trades. Get ready for a very long list (in no order) with mini reviews.....

American Vampire: V5 11 issues. Skinner Sweet is awesome! Love this book (thumbs u

New Avengers: V4 7 issues. Decent read.

Batman: Night Of The Owls (New 52) 15 issues. Loving the new Batman stuff! (thumbs u

X-Men Noir: Mark Of Cain 4 issues. Good read, but not worth the price in hardcover.

All-Star Western: V1 & V2 (New 52) 12 issues. Great stuff! Jonah Hex is awesome! (thumbs u

Captain America (and Bucky): 5 issues. Not bad. Enjoyed re-reading What If #4

Hit-Girl: 5 issues. Loved it! (thumbs u

Stumptown: V1 62 pages (counting as 4 comics). Great read, but, once again, was not worth the money for the hardcover.

Hawkeye: V1 & V2 11 issues. Really dug it, not "mainstream" Marvel.

A VS X: Consequences 5 issues. Just o.k.

Punisher: V3 6 issues. Good. Solid Rucka Punisher

The New Deadwardians: 8 issues. Fun book! (thumbs u

Saucer Country: V1 & V2 14 issues. Good original story with great art. (thumbs u

FF: V1,V2,V3 & V4 23 issues. Just o.k.

Captain America: V1 5 issues. Not sure I am digging Cap in space.

R.I.P.D: V1 4 issues. Fun, fun read! (thumbs u

Wolverine: Permanent Rage 5 issues. Just o.k.

Saga: V2 6 issues. Still really enjoying this series! (thumbs u

Demon Knights: V2 7 issues. love this book! (thumbs u

Birds Of Prey: V1 (New 52) 7 issues. Decent read.

Chew: V6 & V7 10 issues. Love this series! (thumbs u

Before Watchmen: Comedian, Rorschach, Minutemen, Silk Spectre, Nite Owl, Moloch, and Dr. Manhattan 30 issues. Fantastic read! Loved Minutemen was the best of all! (thumbs u

Catwoman: V1 (New 52) 6 issues. Just o.k.

Hellblazer: Death and Cigarettes 10 issues. Last Vertigo issues  Still, a great read (thumbs u

Talon: V1 8 issues. Good stuff.

Happy!: 4 issues. Kooky, crazy stuff from Morrison and Robertson. A great team! (thumbs u

Earth 2: V1 (New 52) 6 issues. Off to an o.k. start, so I will give V2 a chance.

Dial H: V1 (New 52) 7 issues. Really enjoyed this version. (thumbs u

Avengers: V4 6 issues. Did not do much for me.

Bloodshot: Setting The World On Fire 4 issues. Love that he's back and a good story.

Dan The Unharmable: V1 6 issues. Fun, fun, fun! (thumbs u

Detective Comics: V2 (New 52) 7 issues. Like a stated before, loving the new Batman. (thumbs u

Supercrooks: V1 4 issues. Very cool comic! (thumbs u

Avengers: V5 6 issues. Better than V4.

Planet Of The Apes: (Boom!) V1-4 17 issues. Really cool story. Takes place before the 1st movie. (thumbs u

The Cape: 1969 94 pages (counting as 4 issues). Great story! (thumbs u

Shadowman: V1 4 issues. Just like Bloodshot, it's good to have Shadowman back.

New Avengers: V5 4 issues. Just o.k., not worth buying the hardcover.

Harbinger: V1 & V2 8 issues. Great book! Welcome back! :applause:

Daredevil: V3 & V4 13 issues. Just not that into this run, but others seem to dig it.

All-New X-Men: V1, V2 & V3 15 issues. I am having a blast reading this! (thumbs u

Team 7: V1 9 issues. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. That said, it's pizzing me off that in the New 52 D.C. has decided to make Amanda "The Wall" Waller, a skinny hot chick. Shame on D.C.! Waller was cool the way she was, and much more menacing to boot! :frustrated:

Punisher: Enter the War Zone 5 issues. Good, solid story.

Witch Doctor: V1 5 issues. Fun and creepy. Love it! (thumbs u

Batman The Dark Knight: V1 & V2 16 issues. Yep, as before digging the New 52 Batman (thumbs u

Batman and Robin: V1 & V2 15 issues. See above. (thumbs u

Damned: 84 pages (counting as 4 comics). Just o.k., I was expecting more from Grant and Zeck.

Sword Of Sorcery: V1 (New 52) 10 issues. Welcome back Amethyst! Cool storyline. (thumbs u

Rachel Rising: V1 6 issues. Another hit from Terry Moore! :applause:

Young Avengers: V1 5 issues. Pretty good.

Morning Glories: V4 & V5 10 issues. Very cool series! (thumbs u

Daredevil: End Of Days 8 issues. Good story, great art.

Fairest: V2 7 issues. Great series! (thumbs u

Marvel Universe vs The Avengers 4 issues. Total (tsk)

Think Tank: V1 4 issues. Very smart comic. Love it! (thumbs u

Captain Marvel: V1 6 issues. I like this new direction.

Aquaman: V2 7 issues. One of the best New 52 books.

Crossed: Badlands V4 9 issues. Sick and twisted. Keep the kids away from this book.

Fables: V18 10 issues. As always, love this book. Sorry to hear it will be ending soon :(

X-Men: Age Of X 9 issues. Pretty neat story.

S.H.I.E.L.D.: Architects Of Change 7 issues. Might be the best Marvel I have read this year. Just fantastic! (thumbs u Now, if only the TV show was half as good. The show had such potential to showcase 2nd and 3rd tier marvel characters.

Prophet: V1 7 issues. Not what I expected, which is good, because this book is great! (thumbs u

Revival: V1 & V2 11 issues. Great series! (thumbs u

Batwoman: V2 (New 52) 6 issues. Very cool direction this is taking.

Thief Of Thieves: V2 6 issues. Great fun! Really love this book (thumbs u

Dark Avengers (Thunderbolts): Masters Of Evil & the Beginning Is The End 15 issues. Sorry to see this book go, but see the next book I list....

Thunderbolts: V1 6 issues. New direction. I am digging it, but why do Marvel and D.C. feel the need to start new numbering all the time. Just put out good books, that's all that's needed.

Green Lantern: V2 (New 52) 7 issues. Good stuff, but I heard that Johns is leaving the title soon. Bummer.

The Spider: V1 6 issues. I love that Dynamite keeps bringing back these old heroes. I even bought the original art to the cover of # 2 (Variant)

Madame Xanadu: V4 6 issues. Loved this. Sorry to see it end. (thumbs u

A Man Named Hawken: 6 issues. I am a huge fan of Tim Truman's work. This book is just great. Looks like Tim's son has got his father's talent (thumbs u

Northlanders: V7 8 issues. So sorry to see this book end  It was one of the best series. Great story and art (thumbs u

Walking Dead: V17 & V18 12 issues. Still great and going strong (thumbs u

Shattered Heroes: 4 issues. Feh.

Deathmatch: V1 4 issues. Neat stuff. looking forward to V2.

Arkham Asylum: Madness 86 pages (counting as 4 comics). Sam Kieth rocks! Great read! (thumbs u

The Mighty Thor: V1 & V2 13 issues. Good solid story. Love "little" loki.

Batgirl: V1 6 issues. I think D.C. blew this one. I liked Barbara as Oracle. Not sure if I will keep reading this title.

Punisher: Nightmare 5 issues. Not great. zzz

Avengers: New World V1 6 issues. Don't think I like this new direction much.

Trinity Of Sin-The Phantom Stranger: V1 6 issues. Phantom Stranger is back and the book is great! :applause:

Hoax Hunters: V1 6 issues. Strange, cool story. Will be looking to buy the next trade.

World's Finest: V1 (New 52) 6 issues. Not bad, but not great. I will give this title one more try with the next trade. If it doesn't get better, I will drop it.

Neonomicon: 140 pages (counting as 6 issues). Crazy Alan Moore stuff, pretty darn good.

Fury: My War Gone Mad V1 & V2 13 issues. Loved this! A unfiltered Nick Fury! (thumbs u

Back To Brooklyn: 5 issues. Very cool story!

Justice League Dark: V2 9 issues. Love having Constantine in a team book being a total s-bag!

X-Factor: V17, V18 & V19 13 issues. Love this book. Pip the Troll!!! (thumbs u

Winter Soldier: V2 & V3 9 issues. what can I say....Brubaker rocks!

Grifter: V2 (New 52) 9 issues. Not as great as the "old" Grifter, but still good.

Birds Of Prey: V1 (New 52) 7 issues. Off to a decent start, will try the next trade.

Frankenstein Agent Of Shade: V2 10 issues. Strange and cool! (thumbs u

Femme Noir: 5 issues. Neat story with an Eisner feel to the art.

Incredible Hulk: V1 & V2 16 issues. Decent Hulk stories.

Indestructible Hulk: V1 5 issues. Only o.k.

I, Vampire: V2 8 issues. Very cool series (thumbs u

Venom: V1 5 issues. Nothing special.

Resurrection Man: V2 7 issues. Liked this book "back in the day" and like this new direction as well.

That's it!

768 comics read since Jan. 2013

I might not make it to 1000 this year :( , but I am having fun trying :headbang:

November: (13 issues)

Parker: The Score (7 issues) Darwyn Cooke continues to be brilliant with Richard Stark's Parker. Ocean's 13 without the Hollywood.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour HC (6 issues): Knew nothing about this other than the solicit in Previews looked cool back when it was listed, and that Archaic Studio Press does an AMAZING job on all their hardcovers, so for $12 I took a shot. And it was awesome. Apparently the Thrilling Adventure Hour is a podcast that is essentially a modern take on old timey radio serials. So this book is a half dozen different stories with new takes on the classic formats (Western, Horror, Sci-Fi, War, and so on). Just great reads. Funny, and fun. The writers are the podcast creators and they teamed up with different artists for each story but all of them stay pretty close in style so each story doesnt feel like a completely different book. Philip Fathom: Deep Sea Detective, Cactiod Jim, and Beyond Belief were my favorites.

I cannot recommend this book high enough.

Hickman's Fantastic Four Omnibus (35 issues) I really enjoy Hickman for his Sci-Fi bent to whatever he's writing. This was a fun read. And now Im selling my copy over in marketplace! :baiting: I really enjoyed the development of Val, and the Council of Richards was dang entertaining. A little disjointed, but the storys did span from Dark Reign all the way to almost current releases.

Daredevil #32 – magic, mystery and monsters make for a beautifuly crafted book.

FF #13 – still hard to believe that it is Matt Fraction who writes this nonsense.

Indestructible Hulk #14 – also hard to believe that Mark Waid can write a great book like DD at the same time as this stupidity. The artwork is also as ugly as sin.

Infinity Heist #2 – pretty good.

Infinity Hunt #3 – yawn.

Iron Man #17 – Tony Stark isn’t really Tony Stark and nearly 50 years of Marvel history is rewritten.

Nova #9 – tedious.

Savage Wolverine #10 – put some lazy writing together with some scruffy art and this is what you end up with.

Secret Avengers #10 – more Infinity nonsense.

Superior Carnage #4 – surprisingly good.

Superior Spiderman Team-Up #5 – interesting.

Thunderbolts #17 – art so ugly I wanted to poke my eyes out. The writing is terrible as well.

Uncanny Avengers #13 – terrible.

Venom #42 – hot stuff.

Wolverine and the X-Men #37 – time travel tripe.

Young Avengers #11 – pretty art, poor story.

Bataman: Year One (4 issues) Never read this. It was a good read to say the least. Enjoyed the co-mingled rise of Batman and Lt. Gordon. That Frank Miller may have a career writing comic books!

Batman in Darkest Night (2 issues): an entertaining Elseworlds tale from a few years back. Now that Geoff Johns has made the idea of batman with a green lantern ring a little more mainstream its not such a crazy idea.

Batman: Collected Legends of the Dark Knight (7 issues) A nice smattering of Dark Knight stories. The Bat-mite one was a bit off tone vs the rest. But I REALLY enjoyed the Robinson/Sale team up on "Blades"

Avengers #22 – infinite tedium.

Avengers A.I #5 – plodding story made intriguing by Hank Pym’s health admission.

Captain America Living Legend #2 – intriguing.

Guardians of the Galaxy #8 – a drop in quality, with art that is wrong for this book.

Infinity #5 – finally, an issue that is mildly interesting.

The Trial of the Punisher #2 – it was a punishment just having to read this toss. With the worst drawing of Matt Murdock that I’ve ever seen.

Scarlet Spiderman #23 – more Kraven nonsense.

Superior Spiderman #20 – still good.

Superior Spiderman Team-Up Special – excellent.

X-Men Battle of the Atom #2 – a promising start that eventually descended into the usual mutant nonsense.

Up to 955.

Just read the Superman family line of comics that came out in February, 1973 in my ongoing effort to read all the Superman books (except for Superboy) from the beginning of the soft relaunch in October, 1970 through the end of Crisis in the order they were published.

Amazing X-Men #1 – the return of Nightcrawler and the X-Men in Heaven. Intriguing.

Captain America #13 – the Cold War reheated and pretty intresting it is as well.

Captain Marvel #17 – plain to see why this book has been cancelled: God awful story with even worse art.

Iron Man #18 – a new female Mandarin. The fanboys will be upset. A mildly interesting story.

Mighty Avengers #3 – for once, a decent Avengers book.

Well, as we're entering the final month of the readerthon, here are the comics I read in November 2013

Baltimore the infernal train 2

Crossed Badlands 39

Smoke / Ashes (424 pages counts as 19 comics)

The Massive 16

Thunderbolts 110-174

Weird Science 18-22

Haunt of Fear 1-6

Green Lantern 63-67

War of the Green Lanterns Aftermath 1-2

100 bullets brother lono 5

Crossed - Wish You Were Here - Volume 3 #20

Green Latern (new 52) 0- 20 + annual 1

Nexus Omnibus V3 (408 pages counts as 18 comics)

Bloodhound Brass Knuckle Psychology (235 comics counts as 10 comics)

Hitgirl 1-5

Itty Bitty Hellboy 2-3

Saga 15

Screamland 1-5

Swamp Thing Annual 2

The Shadow Year one #6

Thunderbolts (2013) 1-17

Ultimates Comics Cataclysm 1

John Byrne's Classic Next Men V2 (355 pages counts as 16 comics)

The mighty Avengers 1- 36

I read 242 comics this month for a total of 2354 comics read in 2013.

I remember setting myself up for a fall last year by trying to get to 2500 comics.

I also remember that the last month wasn't really as pleasant as I wanted it to be, as I was obsessed in reaching that number that reading became a chore instead of a joy.

When I did reach it (around December 20th) I was kinda fed up with comics and thought not to enter the 2013 edition.

But three weeks later I fell off the wagon and joined in anyway. But this time I had no set number to reach, I wouldn't be a slave to the final total and would just read when I felt like it.

Much to my surprise I'm nearing 2500 comics again, and I'll probably reach it again in 2-3 weeks time, but this time there was no pressure at all, just pure geek-out fun.

What I did notice is that I read less new comics this year than I did the previous years and DC is slowly but surely disappearing from my radar, after being well loved with the New 52.

I'm reading more Marvel again, but mainly in trade format, I can't stand the monthlies anymore, but will read 5-6 trades in a row and go through those 40-50 issues with pleasure.

I'm starting on Y, the last man today, I read it when it came out in monthly spurts, so it will be interesting to read 10 years after it was released with no monthly gap between issues.

Ultimate Spiderman #27 & #28 – both amazing and superior.

Ultimate X-Men #31-#33 – a real step up in quality, and about time as well.

Ultime Cataclysm #0.1 – a pretty good story not helped by some atrocius art.

All New X-Men #18 – costume change for the original X-Mem and the book suddenly goes down in quality.

Captain America Living Legend #3 – most excellent.

Fearless Defenders #11 – pretty good.

Savage Wolverine #11 – more crappy art and pointless writing.

Superior Spiderman #21 – amazingly good.

Superior Foes of Spiderman #5 – somewhat entertaining.

Thor God of Thunder #15 – terrible.

Wolverine #11 – garbage.
