This kind of scam has been run for a while with baseball card auctions. Always 1-day auctions from people with otherwise clean history, pre-approval required. If you email asking to bid, you probably won't get a reply until after the auction ends. At that point the person will say the card (or book) is still available if you want to buy it. Chances are it's someone from tonis-cards.com, a longtime card scammer.

How does WESTERN UNION work because this address format looks nonsense (it's an address, Jim, but not as we know it)? So how do they get their money? They should have used something more credible like "Mr Sherlock Holmes, 221B Baker Street, London, England".

 

This book has been re-listed on E-bay by Christana who is located in the USA. On Comics General, there is a thread by Rocketeer ("And another E-bay seller to avoid") who has recently been ripped off by Christinacollectables. Same scammer?

That's amazing to me, those yahoos on CPG on actually thinking there's a chance in hell that this auction might be for real.... as soon as I saw the auction on ebay, I logged on here to see if there was a scam thread out yet, because I was going to start one!
