Price check on Savage Sword of Conan magazines...

20 posts in this topic

I've got a bunch in NM shape...what do they usually go for? eBay seems pretty out of whack with the prices...they're all over the place.

I have #3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13

Thanks in advance.

Peace,

Chip

I checked your mags against the Comicspriceguide.com website and found that they also value your mags relatively high with some deviation from prices given by NOSTOMANIA. You might want to hold off just dumping them and check further if you don't believe these two sources that I gave you. - Mike

When you realize those prices, please send me a PM with the buyers info. I have about 5 magazine boxes full of high grade copies that I would love to move :insane:

Hey, don't kill the messenger. :tonofbricks: I'm just posting what I found in two on-line catalogues. I have no interest whatsoever in "The Savage Sword of Conan" or Conan the "Bavarian." :eyeroll: I'm just trying to help a fellow collector figure out a price for his mags.

In fact, if anyone has any other on-line magazine/comic catalogues that we could use for reference I wish they would post the coordinates. The more input, the better. :gossip:

Ebay?

The problem is that eBay is not a catalogue. Granted, it is a market where one can see various prices placed on the material for sale by the sellers. However, each seller grades subjectively (and some mindlessly!) trying to get the highest price for his/her mags or comics.

Some sellers who are not very astute will undervalue their material like the guy who sold me my FM #4 Ghoul's Eye Sticker in about 7.0 condition for $149! :o However, the overwhelming majority of sellers will overvalue and overgrade their material. NM, NM, M, NM, M, NM+, NM, M, NM+...

Then there are the sellers who have no clue as to what grade to put on their material. I've seen some really nice FMs on occasion that I might give a NM-grade to described as "very good." Of course, the seller is not using the accepted grading system and probably means NM or VF+. He/she just doesn't know how to properly describe the item. So, the buyer now has to go through a guessing game - "Do they really mean VG, or is it just their way of describing a VF+, NM- mag???" You get my drift.

I am talking about legitimate catalogues that have firm values for the different grades of magazines or comics. Aside from Nostomania , I am not aware of any other catalogue, on-line or hard copy, that lists values for Famous Monsters.

I would say based off of experience and observation that if you had SOLID NM copies of these books and provided large scans then you could get Nosto's 9.0 prices for the books (minus the out of skew #7 price that they have).
