Well, after I made this post, I put mine up for sale on ebay for 3 days, .99 no reserve... it just ended a little while ago:

Avengers 55 Fair/water damaged

An interesting contrast in results.

Now I have a serious question. First congratulations on the sale. Second, on a book like that after a flood like that, is it readable or is it a brick in some areas where the paper on some pages has bonded together due to the moisture?

Someone asked if the pages were stuck together about an hour before it ended, I tried to post the question and answer to the auction, but apparently not enough time was left on the clock for that to happen. Here was my response:

Hi, the stains at top front cover and bottom back cover are visible on the interior pages, the bottom stain more so than the top one and they are close to the spine. If you casually flip through the book, the pages look real nice. They are not stuck together or otherwise damaged and they smell fresh & are OW/W.

The pages were actually pretty nice overall, maybe the books were rescued shortly after the flood hit the comic store they were in. The story goes that they prepared for the flood by raising everything about 3-4 feet, but the flood was 6-8 feet.

Nah, that wasn't me. Just curious as I have seen books like that before but never thought to ask until now. I am passing by these Avengers 55's for the time being so I can knock other books off my want list.

I appreciate the response though.

I'm surprised this one hasn't been bidded up more. Looks like a pretty nice copy for the price.

Avengers 55

Yeah, have to commend the seller for pretty conservative grading, although CGC has been hammering the bejabbers out of books with stains.
