What's your go to price guide?

How much did that first copy sell for? :makepoint:

Less than $495.10 :baiting:

So, roughly...tree-fiddy.

Yeah. Give or take $0.00

Now you've sparked my interest... is there any way to find what the actual figure of an accepted "best offer" was?

There used to be but eBay has fixed the hole.

Once they eliminate you from seeing how much past auctions have sold for they're rendering their entire site useless to me.

Yeah - I have been playing spectator to the gripes on the boards about the changes eBay are making that negatively affect sellers. It's not looking good. I've just got ready to launch my first set of listings too... Sounds like I'm hopping on the bandwagon at a less than ideal time.

Surely they won't kill that functionality too?

Boardies should start a new "eBay" competitor. Just like eBay, only without the silly rules.

While we're at it, let's start a new shipping service so I don't have to pay more than a slab is worth just to get it to me. hm

Zap-Kapow, Over Street Price Guide

Zap-Kapow looks good. Where do they get their pricing information?

An app that updates is much better than having to buy a big book every year!

Ooh - how'd you manage that?

I use a variety of sources. Overstreet, completed eBay sales, Comiclink, other auction sites, GPA.

I would say my "go to" for raw is Overstreet. For some of the more obscure comics out there, OS can, oftentimes, be one of the only resource.

My "go to" for slabs is GPA, with the caveat that for less popular comics, GPA data can be spotty.

Ah jeez, sorry about that. It was from a new site I found, you just plug in the auction number and get those results, I thought I had linked that here too. But I didn't bookmark it and I can't remember the website name (sorry, I was a little stoned) doh!

But no matter - another easy way is to just add ".sg" to the end of "www.ebay.com" and you get this:

http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/27358-Batman-251-NM-9-4-Tongie-Farm-Collection-/380665929560?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item58a1751f58

I agree with this, although I also look at ebay current listings to get a feel for the going price at that moment. This is especially useful for comics that are bought and sold frequently, like silver keys, since you're likely to get a few current listings, often in the grade you're looking for.

The Overstreet comic book price guide or an online one?
I go by Overstreet, but I generally know which books are scarce or high-demand and likely to command a premium above guide, at least for the titles and genres that I collect.

Overstreet has been fairly reliable and more or less filters out the noise from flash-in-the-pan price spikes that are due to buzz about a movie or temporary inflation due to one person overpaying badly in a forum that shows up in GPA.

I do look at historical sales on the Heritage site and sometimes E-Bay, but I take them with a grain of salt because I know how common it is for a couple of guys to get into a bidding war that results in somebody paying 2,3, or even 4 times what a book is worth (and then regretting it, in most cases).

can you still get historical prices on ebay? it seems like that took away that feature.

Check the box for completed listings.

Sold listings only go back a week or two anymore.

They've done away with anything outside of that from what I've been able to see.

not to mention that ending prices are all over the map for books that are purportedly in the same grade

Yeah, Just like like when you buy, you really have to look at each scan and see if that great deal someone got on a 9.4 is really fair value for a 7.5.
