He does have a smarmy, imperious villain charm. I'm sure it'll be altered or mechanized somehow, but still. Now the image of Ultron with Jarvis' voice can leave my brain.

If that were the case they would not have announced him as playing Ultron and ruin the surprise. They would have taken the Cumberbatch/Khan approach, i.e. a poorly-kept secret.

 

Love the casting. Maybe Spader will be an avatar Ultron uses to appear electronically, on TV etc.

And by the way, a note about the JARVIS/Ultron theory that has been circulating. (Search for "avengers 2 secret villain revealed" on YouTube).

 

If an idea gets enough publicity as a fan-generated idea, you can be almost sure that it will not be used in a movie. No screenwriter worth his salary is going to use such an idea, even if they had the idea themselves or think it's a good one. How then would they justify their indispensability to a film project.

 

They want to come up with things the public won't expect. This is one reason you get changes from the comic book canon, why the ending of Terminator Salvation was altered (it was leaked) and why Agent Coulsen was never going to be resurrected as the Vision.
