Hey, is anyone getting these books graded? I've been watching Ebay and the first wave of graded books are coming back but they're not selling for much over $40. Considering what you pay for CGC, thats not much including cover price. I'm not sure what I want to do with mine. Grade 'em or wait till Fan Expo (I live in Ontario) and get a few of them signed and graded.

 

Still pretty sure this is just a fad and these book will all be back to cover price in no time.

 

 

I said these books are worthless after NYCC many pages ago. :devil:

I think a small few will rise to the top, Lobo & Harley at least...maybe Count Vertigo.

 

I think you are dead on while a few more may join the list. Green Arrow is a rocking book that is flying under the radar and Count Vertigo was both cool looking and had relatively small numbers. 2c

getting these books encapsulated just seems silly to me.

Almost as silly as paying $3.99 a month for a small slice of a story. To me that's silly and a rip off.

You clearly missed my point. I wasn't trying to be negative toward these 3D covers. What someone buys is their business. Its only paper and ink. Lighten up. What I was addressing was how this industry blossomed into a really money making mess, pointing fingers toward the big publishers charging ridiculously high cover prices for a piece a storyline.

 

Granted, I'm in to business to offer these same books to customers that I'm making profit from just like every other seller, but I feel the hobby might be heading toward dark waters. I mean when will cover prices hit consumer resistance

A seller can't get slaughtered when you buy at half cover price. Just the second hand speculators do. Just like playing at a casino. The house almost always wins. The ones chasing the money don't. So I disagree with your comment.

I am not sure I address my post at your specific comment, but I can relate. I agree we are already in dark waters up to our around our waist currently. I think this next year will not be as strong for the market overall and it will be near the chest. But, until conventions begin to decrease instead of increase as the current trend is this type of market will continue. When you see larger conventions complain about a decrease in attendance or folding it will continue for the near future. The trick is to be ready for it instead of open speculations that is rampant currently. Those speculators will disappear when the market pulls back.

From the news I am hearing... Harley 3D is HOT at the show.

 

Just pulled my the remainders of my Harley's and Lobo's off eBay to send to CGC...phew. They were starting to get swooped up this week while I was away. I think these will do pretty well slabbed.

That pic is terrible - I see one thing onthat cover that might be a signature, and it looks nothing like any of the three people's names that singed it.

No problem. I see two, but they look pretty rough - Almost like when you used to write a title on a CD-R with erasable marker.
