DC's Villain Month 3D Covers

2,249 posts in this topic

Ah, all the negativity is coming out now. I told you so every 3 posts currently.

Here are the last few BINs not auctions BINs. These were the most current.

Now if I was looking to buy some right now I would be buying in auction format with free shipping. Those sellers are getting slaughtered.

Scarecrow - $9.50 free shipping

Mr. Freeze $13.99 + shipping

Harley - $4.25 + shipping (What a steal)

Count Vertigo - $7.50 + shipping

Riddler - $5.99 + shipping

Kiler Frost - $6.99 + shipping

Scarecrow - $8.99 + shipping

Harley Quinn - $17.95 free shipping

Solmon Grundy $6.99 + shipping

Jokers Daughter - $24.98 free shipping

Ocean Master $5 + shipping

Black Manta $6 + shipping

Deadshot $10 + free shipping

You clearly missed my point. I wasn't trying to be negative toward these 3D covers. What someone buys is their business. Its only paper and ink. Lighten up. What I was addressing was how this industry blossomed into a really money making mess, pointing fingers toward the big publishers charging ridiculously high cover prices for a piece a storyline.

Granted, I'm in to business to offer these same books to customers that I'm making profit from just like every other seller, but I feel the hobby might be heading toward dark waters. I mean when will cover prices hit consumer resistance

$4.99, $5.99, $6.99 + I was just trying to make this point.

A seller can't get slaughtered when you buy at half cover price. Just the second hand speculators do. Just like playing at a casino. The house almost always wins. The ones chasing the money don't. So I disagree with your comment.

Cover prices have actually stayed pretty consistent for quite some time, and in some cases, are lower than they were ten years ago.

As long as they're consistent with inflation, I think it's fine. But you are right. For 5-10 minutes of entertainment, 2.99-3.99 is a pretty high price when you think about it.

What's really killing things (budget-wise) is the double shipping, I find. If you order a title in advance, then you're locked in for at least two months after you cancel it, in most cases, as the dealer has to pre-order two months in advance. Marvel doesn't announce when they solicite a title if there's going to be 18 issues a year ( I THINK they don't, could be wrong though). So, you could think you're getting 12, then boom, 6 other issues come up and wreck your budget! (X how many other titles you order that pull this fast one).

You can't really do anything about it, since you've already pre-ordered. You're at least getting two more issues (or 4 if these are double months). Then it puts you in the dilemma of continueing a title that you enjoy, or cancelling due to lack of funds. Or the dilemma of "well, I'm already 6 issues deep....

I get my comics every two weeks from my dealer, so half the time, I don't even really notice if there's two issues of the the same title, as sometimes there is monthly overlaps. It's only after 2 months have gone by, and there's like 9 issues of Cable and X-Force out already that I realize what Marvel's done.

Bastards.

Wow, these books tanked, glad I didn't go out and try and slab a bunch of them, costs more in grading fees than what they are selling for.

Okay, but they boomed very fast, then fell. Chill a bit with them, and see what happens in the longer term.

NYCC had lots of them. Most dealers selling for $5-10 a book depending on the character with a few at the $20 and a few sellers trying to pull off JD at $40. Thursday Midtown had a ton of JD at $15 a pop Friday they were "sold out" Sat a stack twice as big with a new price of $20 a pop. Every other seller was asking 20+ from the get go.

I am still buying them for around cover whenever i find them. I think they are awesome. I am 15-20 away from a complete set, but I haven't paid over 5-6 bucks for any of them.

which ones are you missing? might be able to help in your quest :)
