Schomburg Top 10 Covers

127 posts in this topic

I'm just gonna show the favorites that I have in my photobucket from my collection. Clearly, I don't have MANY Schomburg covers that I would put in my top ten!!! These are listed in order of most favorite on down.

I guess these are my top ten books that are in my photobucket and are currently in my collection. I have others too, but keeping it to ten, these make the cut.

I just had to say.... well done my friend!

Wow West! This is one of my favorite Timely's... :cloud9:

If you ever see or hear of this book for sale, please keep me in mind & Happy New Year! (thumbs u

One of the things I like about Schomburg is the inclusion of geopolitical specifics in many of his wartime covers: Australian invasion plans, Russian tanks to Berlin, Chinese Kuomintang troops in bondage, invasion of Iceland, etc. Even though they were quite fanciful, they give a window into the scope of the war beyond the usual punching out Japs and Nazis covers.

Still regretting that you outbid me on that MMC 13. Beautiful copy! Here I am calling myself Vision with only a 7.5 to represent myself :-)

Seems fitting to me. You are "Vision75" afterall... (thumbs u

Haha... Good one!

while I was researching covers to put together my top ten list I found out he did girly type books as well. Its interesting to see the stylized art on these covers

Never seen these before, but I LOVE THESE!!! I guess Beatrice was an actual columnist, AKA a "Dear Abby" person. I may have to chase this short run down.

Good luck.

Update on Schomburg list. At this point we have 132 nominations. It'll take me a few days to prep but polls to come soon. Here's the final list unless somebody wants to make a last-minute plea for one or two serious contenders that have yet to be mentioned.

A few not listed.

I definitely think Exciting 62, Startling 47, and Startling 50 deserve to be nominated. I am also a fan of Exciting 57.

I am especially fond of Exciting 62. I think it's one of his best and really ought to be considered a classic cover.
