Didn't the Archie series have a live show or two at one point where it was a mix of animated and live production?

Also, Darkman was heavily influenced by comics.

Unable to secure the rights to either The Shadow or Batman, Raimi decided to create his own superhero and struck a deal with Universal Studios to make his first Hollywood studio film. He was subjected to a grueling screenwriting process and equally difficult post-production battle with the studio.

Dark City is another one that may or may not qualify. In checking the production notes, I discovered David Goyer was part of the writing team.

Dark City is a 1998 neo-noir science fiction film directed by Alex Proyas. It was adapted from a screenplay written by Proyas, David S. Goyer and Lem Dobbs.

47 Ronin doesn't belong. It is nothing like Mike Richardson, Stan Sakai, and Kazuo Koike's comic book, which is a faithful retelling of one of Japan's beloved historical story.

By the rules, do films like Men in Black 2 and 3 really belong? I'm trying to understand the parsing here.

I only included them because of the tie-in with the comic books (Aircel Comics, Malibu Comics, Marvel Comics). I can drop them if it doesn't make sense.

Heck if I know. I'm currently trying to find a way to get Hostes Twinkee ads on the list.

:roflmao:

Well, I did include the Buck Rogers Department Store Promotion Movie (1936).

A live-action short film was produced in 1936, designed to be shown in department stores to promote Buck Rogers merchandise. It was shot in the Action Film Company studio in Chicago, Illinois, directed by Dr. Harlan Tarbell. The characters included Buck Rogers, Wilma Deering, Dr. Huer, Killer Kane, Ardala, King Grallo of the Martian Tiger Men, and robots.

Now that was marketing ahead of its time.

But seriously, 47 Ronin has to go.

What "47 Ronin" movie on the list? I have no idea what you are talking about.

:applause:

I was willing to die on that hill.

I would have been the 48th Ronin.

And then we could have made a movie of it.

And THAT would have made the list.

:applause: I watched the whole thing with a big glass of ovaltine (chocolate protein shake).

For it's time, it feels pretty good.

I always enjoyed the Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon PBS reruns when I was a kid. I would love to pick up all these videos someday.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

While you can say that they were based on a toy, the characters themselves are based on the character developments that Larry Hama developed through the comic book series.

Hasbro told Marvel, we created some toys we want to market with a comic book. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's back story and relationship and all the ninja stuff along with other character developments were influenced by Larry Hama. In fact:

GI Joe Rise of Cobra: Elements from GI Joe 26 and 27

GI Joe Retaliation: Reminded me a lot of issue 78 and every issue involving Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow after it is revealed that Zartan killed Storm Shadow's uncle.

GI JOE maybe...

Started as a comic strip in 1937, first comic in 1950, over the last 60+ years titles published by Ziff Davis, DC, Marvel, Blackthorne, Hasbro, Dark Horse, Devils, Due, Image, and IDW. Not to mention its been published in 24 counties.

Major toy line for the last 60+ years.

One animated series, animated movies, and 3 live action movies and working on a 4th (mind you the first was horrid beyond believe, the last two progressively better)

GI Joe never gets any respect.... :sorry:
