The books shown, dear lonely hearts 6, the other all true romance, and romantic hearts 9 are all interesting to me and the romance stories of true love 52 has a Baker story but I was surprised at the hammer price. Romantic Hearts 9? The girl fight cover? Heck, that might go for $1500 by itself.

For a number even close to that, I could be pursauded to break up with her... It looks to me like that copy might have had a little "potential" left in it. Maybe the reason for the price. Popular Post Dr. Love
Pound for pound Orbit might be the best romance publisher. The interior work is extraordinary - Leav, Anderson, Shores, Buscema. Deep bench, with each style quite different from the others. Blows everyone else away, imho of course! Love Diary 31 might be the best Buscema cover. Classic cover beyond a doubt, on my top 50 all romance list. Given that there's nothing graded to date, and the relative condition of the ebay book, if it can get a well presented 6.0 then anything under 1K was well worth it. 1950's war comics, jimjum12, Larryw7 and 9 others
Dr. Love
In other romance news, there's an Accepted Publications reprint copy of the wildly popular Popular Teenagers 5 in an upcoming HA auction. Still in its 2012 slab, a beautiful 8.5, but mislabeled as a Star copy. This from the same auction house that had an AR copy auctioned October last year. That copy was in a correctly labeled slab. Though this one is not, it's just plain sloppy for a premier house to get this wrong. When the same situation came up at ComicLink in May, when made aware of the mislabel, they immediately corrected the auction title and description, and noted that they were sending the book back to CGC for proper labeling. Update: HA says they'll correct this Edited November 8, 2018 by Dr. Love M-F0uRce99, 1950's war comics and FoggyNelson
Dr. Love
Also, while the big number on the Orbit book is understandable (to me anyway), there was a Charlton photocover, a True Life Secrets 3, scarce and interesting, that went for almost $800 recently on Ebay as well. I thought I knew the market but I was surprised at this hammer. I expected to take it at under $300, but man was I ever wrong. One thing about romance - even though the market feels toppy as all getout, in absolute terms romance is so lesser valued, and always will be relative to other genres, that you could buy in at the top and still not take a crippling bath if there's a 50% haircut down the road. Popular Post Dr. Love
I've divested myself of a lot of books over the years, but I've managed to keep a core bunch of great DC stuff that I dearly love. Here's a stunning early issue that I sold to a friend who was kind enough to sell it back to me some years later. Thanks bro! Notice that DC rarely cluttered up the covers with balloons. No side panels. And out of 180 Girls' Love issues, maybe 10 that sectioned off the title into it's own top block that cut 1/3 or more of the image space off from the real estate available to the front cover. Graphic design wise, they were way ahead of the competition in this respect. Popular Post Dr. Love
it's been a while since I've posted a small run of books. I remember when I was new to the boards and had a ton of romance never seen by eyes other than my own and I'd do these late night marathon postings. What a trip that was! I've held onto this Ziff. One of the most wonderful romance books I've come across. Painted, by the other Anderson (Allen, not Harry), with a play of light that is masterful for this medium. mustang33guy, comicnoir, jimjum12 and 9 others
Popular Post Dr. Love
And a closer by the King. Back in the day, his Prize romance books were sought after. Now, not so much. I've sold most of what I had, except for a My Date run that I now consider to be the very start of the romance explosion, and this book. Besides the fantastic coloring, it's a heartfelt love letter from Jack to Roz and a forever keeper. Always in our hearts Jack. Thanks for the memories. 1950's war comics, adamstrange, M-F0uRce99 and 3 others
