2014 March Madness Comic Grading Tournament - Round of 64

200 posts in this topic

Highest losing grades were 70 & 71

Ouch

Now I feel even worse. I looked at the last round and my 71 is the highest score for a loser in nearly a 100 match ups.

I had a sneaking suspicion my bout with 1Cool was going to be a close one. I almost feel bad that he had the highest losing score. Getting 2 bullseyes saved me this round. on to the round of 32!

Well played sir. Best of luck - there are some sweet books to be had.

AVE - Super easy to grade 2.0

HW - That book looks like a 6.0 fine all day.

UXM114 - Looked sweet in the small scan but horrible in the large scan. I think I gave it a 9.0 and had a feeling that was the book the would do me in.

UXM266 - Had it at 9.4, knocked it down once for the dirtiness and once for the staple, guess they said staple was a production era

If you see a score of "-15" it means that contestant did not submit grades.

Arg!! Pulled a 71 and still lost. Those darn tomato grade books!

Just playing - went with a 1.5 on the Avenger after debating between a 1.8 and 1.5 for half an hour. And the first X-Men has way more spine ticks and has a corner bend so I can't believe they both got a 9.6. At least I got the hardest one with a 7.5 on the hot rod. Great contest and I'm coming back stronger next year or maybe CGC will make better sense next year.

You and Fantastic Thor...2 70 or better scores bounced! WOW! Tough competition for sure...

CONGRATS on your stellar grading anyway... :headbang:

Congrats jaybuck. Best of luck to everyone left. This is where I start complaining about the bogus books right???

Thanks for a great game Stanley you were an excellent opponent :)

I don't think there were any "tomato books" this round...

Still don't know what that means. I will say the staple messed with me. I think we need these "tomato" books. It makes the competition much more challenging and we all potentially learn from it.
