CGC stepped up and fixed the problem. Kudos!

So what happens to the book though? It is not like there are Hulk 1's growing on trees.

Hopefully, it will be a spiff when you win Forumite of the Year next year.

But I don't smoke. Maybe it should go to Linguini.

Don't laud them for fixing a problem they caused by breaking their own rules

Baloney. Every company makes mistakes. How they deal with them is what's important. Now if they would deal with a couple other "mistakes" they've made recently that would be great.

A mistake is the Journey Into Mystery issue.

This is a blatant and will full Violation of their rules

This was clearly an error, and not a "wink wink" circumvention of the rules like it first appeared. There was a misunderstanding, and it has been fixed. They didn't intentionally violate a rule, and any appearance of doing so has been fixed. They ought to be lauded in this case (and I'm on record calling them out on plenty, like Costanza-gate or spine realignments).

So my understanding is that as long as it's a mistake, anything from here on out will be rejoiced as a mistake and nobody will get mad that the mistake occurred right? Cool. Back to normal then.

Wasn't the JIM blue-purple-blue a mistake?

This is true that this was an error.

Lets just hope this "error" hasn't been made multiple times in the past when said book hasn't been brought to the board's attention.

No way that could happen... no way.

Not if Paul thought that Kenny cracked the book. (shrug)

So the owner is now forced to sell his book?

I doubt it, but if I could get 1.5 yellow/purple label price for this otherwise purple label I'd take it. He was clearly in this for the resale anyway per his OP.

Yellow Purple label SS 1.8 signed by Stan sold in July APRIL 2013 for $2500 hm

What's that put this one's value at ? hm

three-fiddy

Someone had to

I'm with Ares, sorry but this is a crock. You started the thread saying your going nuclear but its a mistake and all of the sudden we're told to move along, nothing to see here. Seriously if this isnt' an issue because it was a mistake, why bring it up in the first place? Just give them the benefit of the doubt, save us the hassle.

You're upset because the offending book that mistakenly ended up in a Sig Series hold is no longer going to end up in a Sig Series holder and because the OP didn't go ballistic?

No, I'm disturbed by the fact that a thread is started stating outrage and how could this happen and CGC can't be trusted, and everything else. It's stated that a mistake was made, and so quick to forgive, everything is great, CGC is the best, blah blah.

Don't feign outrage or anything else, if you love CGC to the point where they can do no wrong, thats fine. Don't start a threat that ultimately will rile people up, intentionally or not, and abandon it at the first excuse.

I just find it funny that the same people cursing CGC are singing their praises the next minute.

Also I'm a bit confused that their off the hook so easily, thats probably it when we boil it down. The constant gripes about how they could or should change, the blunders that we know of, and in the end, it doesnt matter because they will always be forgiven, rather easily. Seems like were spinning our wheels, why even get upset at anything when it's apparently not a big deal, why does CGC have rules, we don't care if they follow them

When a disagreement or an offense happens, it's normal to be heated or angry or upset at the beginning, especially if you believe there was a wrong done, whether it's about sig series, or interpersonal relationships.

If an amicable resolution is found what is the point in staying angry? It's very possible that the torches were being lit and fuel was being poured but the solution seemed effective enough to put it out. I don't see the problem.

You can't blame people for getting upset initially and you certainly can't blame people for not staying upset either. Just the way I see it. (shrug)

And if CGC is now responding quicker and more effectively because there is now some pressure on them because of a competitor out there well this is what most have been wanting anyway.

It's OK to smell the roses. :)

We only care if it's it's remedied. Seriously, they can screw up any way they wish, as long as it comes out in the wash it doesnt matter? Look im happy it's resolved, buy wasn't the issue how and not what?

How can this happen with all the safeguards and rules in place? The fact that it's fixed is irrelevant, it should not have occurred. Same way one book should not change labels 3 times when you tout yourself as THE authority in grading with strict standards, but your not transparent with your practices. "trust us while we work in the shadows, don't worry about the screw ups, we'll fix them" Doesnt that give you an overwhelming sense of trust?

Ok I'm sorry, im sorry, I'm done with my rantrant I swear. :foryou: for everyone. this stuff just irks me to no end.

My apologies, it was a mistake

Not at all. Paul thought Kenny cracked the book. He didn't. Big Mistake.

Big Mistake is presented to CGC, they correct as best they can. There is not much else they can do. In my experience, they work very hard to keep the integrity of the SS. They sure aren't perfect, but they work very hard.
