That's a pretty big difference for two major players!

I found these figures interesting. Of course the times were different and TM was more entrepreneurial in his ventures. But will these figures impact legacy? Thoughts?

Todd made a lot of money selling action figures, especially action figures in the 1990s.Action figures had a big bubble in the late 1990s like comics and baseball cards did in the early 1990s.

I know a few people that made millions selling actions figures during the late 1990s, and they were not big players like Todd was. So yeah Todd is rich. lol

Todd revolutionized the toy industry by researching new materials to have toys manufactured in. Polymer resin molding picks up way more detail. He wanted his Spawn toys to have the detail of his renderings. Once he started making toys his toy fabrication business exploded and he was then able to buy baseballs.

Boys with Toys and Balls....... sounds simple but I'm sure Todd is innovative and a hard worker.

Not to say Stan isn't. Just seems they had different goals and driving forces.

lol

Whomever wrote that made it sound like Todd McFarlane Productions published Spawn instead of Image.

In your face, Image.

I'm surprised McFarlane is not worth even more. Not only does he have his toy business, but he retains rights over Spawn (at least the comics), and presumably was paid for the use of Spawn's image in movies, the animated series.

Lee is worth $50 million.

Does it ever really matter what anyone else is worth? I mean, that's a ridiculous sum of money for someone who has created characters that other people own for his entire professional career.

Has very little to do with it. Has more to do with the time in which each were active and producing at their highest level. No one made real money in comics in the 50s/60s/70s.

This is a huge part of it. There's just way more money to be made now, just like sports.

Carmelo Anthony will make way way more than Kareem, George Gervin, Jerry West, Bob Cousy did COMBINED. Heck, Stephon Marbury probably did.

For the very beginning of his career. He hasn't done that in a while. Since then he's been an executive. Not all that uncommon for executives to be worth 50 mil.
