67 posts in this topic

hey I have nothing against him retiring he deserves it after all he created the awesome comics so I'm not complaining :)

I agree. While he may be somewhat of a joke to many on the boards these days, he is the man who has brought us ALL many, many hours of enjoyment!!

First off,

"Why do you care to make this dumb thread?"

Answer: Its no dumber that the following threads:

a) What are you listening to as you read the forums tonight?....As if I care and at least my thread is comic relevant.

b) Anyone seen a creator be a jerk?...can be seen as an obnoxious and libelous question. However I enjoyed reading it in the spirit it was intended.

c)Do CGC slabs need to "breathe"?...since comics are "dead" I would think the answer obvious but the poster of this question was answered respectfully as he or she should be

"Based on your well laid out arguement, I have to agree!"

"Was the argument removed, or was this well deserved sarcasm?"

This was purely a supposition by myself put out there for fun. This blog is full of questions that have no real relevance but are fun to ask anyway and I respect and accept that completely. What should concern you more are the asinine and disrespectful comments like:

"His signing hand will probably still be twitching hours after he's brain-dead"

"He won't stop till he has defaced every comic book on Earth"

finally,

"So, you're speculating on a hypothesis.

Maybe you should change the title of the thread because it gives the impression of being an announced fact."

Here is the title again to my post...Stan Lee retiring from signings next year..what are the odds?

Again an innocent question to ask that can be fun to try and speculate about. Many folks are wondering that out there. There is nothing in the title thread to indicate that his retirement is imminent. I thought saying "What are the Odds? would explain that.

I hate having to make an issue out of all this but some folks are seemingly brought up in a barn and this in a forum that states the following:

"The bottom line is this: what we're trying to create is an open and friendly atmosphere that allows everyone to speak their mind, but keeps things on a level where as many people as possible are having a good time."

Amen

Cheers, Howard

PS If you cant participate in my threads with meaningful suggestive polite comments don't post at all. To those who have and there are some. Thanks so much.

I really don't see a long future for you here.

I think he needs to stick with it. Have a bad feeling that if he quit the con circuit, he'd end up losing his passion for life and could all go downhill from there as soon as he hit any type of illness.

Bad example but most recent I can think of is how Joe Paterno (PSU coach) looked like he'd live forever but as soon as the scandal hit and he got canned from coaching, he died that year......

I disagree… I see the start of a glorious poster to follow in the steps of many that have paved the way.

:slapfight: Nerd. Geek. Jerk. Meanie.

To the OP, if you've surfed these boards any, reading threads, you should expect to get some feather ruffling, after all, it is Comics General.

Secondly, Stan Lee is nearly 92, I should think he would want to slow down, but as someone pointed out recall what happened to Paterno as a recent example. Perhaps Stan is of the same race as Uatu.

And C... Hmmmm.... It is Friday....Is this the official Friday thread?!?!?

Lighten up. Or light it up. or light one up. or get lit. 'Tis the season.

Con seen

And you teach English right??

And you sell comics, right? Oh wait I saw your last sales thread lol

PS: Notice the comma :baiting:

PSS: Remember when I proofed your ebay sales? Are you sure you want to call me out on grammar?

:sorry:

Remember when he would send you free books for being the only one who would defend him?

Stan is in great shape for his age so I expect several more years of shows from the man. He might slow it down but stop... Nah!

Keep in mind that Joe Simon was signing right up until his last few months and was sharp as a tack and cracking jokes in his last NYC ComicCon.

I thought he would retire after this year from attending shows in person except for doing skype appearances. I thought the signings would go to NyComics and few others for private signings. The guy still be at cons and have the same fun just in a non-traditional way.
