I'm  in the same boat. Only sticking around to make sure the account doesn't renew thus month then away I go. I already unchecked auto renew but with the way everything else works around here it's best to err on the side of caution.

If you have not already, telephone CGC accounting and they should be able to promptly rectify this issue. Unfortunately, I have had to speak with the accounting department with almost every submission for one reason or another.

Okay I wasn't gonna complain again, but I know my fellow canuck is as invested in this situation as I am so here's the short, full story of my experience with QC/customer service.

Got a slab, had a small chip with large newton rings on the front cover, signed 5x detective comics 1000.

Emailed CGC, they said it qualified for a free reholder and sent me the directions on how to do it. Couple weeks later they get me a shipping label. At this point I'm questioning what took so long, but happy to be getting it reholdered.

While being reholdered I got an email. Book got damaged when being taken out, will be 9.6 now, sorry for the inconvenience, here's a $50 credit. Really nice considering they assume 0 liability for this stuff.

On a second look, it'll be a 9.4, here's another $50 credit. That one hurt the soul, but oh well I'll use the credit on my next submission.

Next order goes out and wow, charged the full amount with no invoice sent. I called accounting and they said sorry about that, but we only see a $50 credit so that's all I can refund you for. Dude on the phone was very helpful, but his hands were tied because the only credit there was $50.

So now I have to call customer service tomorrow to figure out where the other $50 is and then I can follow up with accounting AGAIN to get that refunded.

Sorry, rant over. Thanks for reading.

This in a nutshell is now CGC. They don't care.

I've been a member for almost a year

first submission took way way longer than they said (170 business days instead of 130)

Did a submission with my LCS, one book was damaged and one slab was cracked

This ME mess

and now the invoice problems with my 4th submission

I love the slabs and grading books is a really fun extension of the hobby, but not when something so simple is such a headache

+1

I understand CGC is a business. And that there are other businesses that necessitate their usage of CGC. But comics is a hobby of mine. Hobbies are supposed to bring joy. Submitting to CGC doesn't.

Why does CGC continue to use these plastics that damage the books upon being removed?

I don't recall this being an issue 5 years ago?  Seems like almost weekly a book is damaged when a book is removed from a holder now.

I've cracked about 5 newer cases so far, haven't damaged a book yet

I'm guessing if you're allowing people to manhandle them, poop will happen

Cuz it deserved the 6.0, arsehole

:applause:

If only more people actually admitted to this being the case for some of the books they sent in. There would be a LOT less threads.

Honestly, I didn't even remember the book and thought that CGC f'd it up but I checked the raw scans.

Just like with the 7.5 I got in my mag sub.  Damn crease on the cover that I missed.

And that is what I originally thought, but wasn't going to go back through your this week in your collection to see if you posted the raw scan. (Especially since the issues were on the FC) [I looked at the notes)

Sometimes chit happens.(shrug)

Way this market has been you may still break even on it.
