Best of 2014....... it Begins---------The Votes are in!!!

243 posts in this topic

NO, Ron is not getting all the votes. he only entered two pieces in some categories and you each get three votes per category! I know, some of his things deserve all three votes but I myself have resisted that type of voting so far.
Actually, in some categories you get 5! (Cover, Splash, Interior Page). So there's room for Ron and Jim Halperin.

My wife is in love with a piece I bought and says I should win the category for it. Even after the first 3 or 4 days I knew that was not going to happen.

I would likely vote for your McCay. That's one artist who has been on my short list for years.

Thank you. It is beautiful. I am not bragging as I had nothing to do with it. My wife likes the McCay but loves the Charles Vess Elric piece. I don't even know if it is published although it is likely that it was in Realms of Fantasy, a magazine my wife read for years. So that all makes sense I guess.

Who the hell is Ron Sonenthal? Does he have a CAF gallery?

My Lowry link is as follows -

http://www.comicartfans.com/mylowry.asp?gsub=1683

This year was nice & easy - five pieces added, five pieces into the Lowry/Best Of.

An Al Feldstein "Weird Fantasy' cover (thank you again, Terry!), a BWS 'Miracleman' cover, a Miller 'Daredevil' page (thank you again, David!), a Colan/Everett 'Captain America' page and a Totleben 'Miracleman' published pin-up. All in all, much to be happy about.

Best of luck to everyone...including Ron. And, sincere thanks to Bill & Brian.

Hi All,

Despite the excellent job done over the past years, the Lowry is missing a category.... Rookie of the Year!

I'd like to nominate myself  for 2014 as my very first original art purchase was last March. Please check out my Lowry additions as well as my CAF Gallery.

Also, please visit my CAF Gallery to check out all my 2014 acquisitions.

Sonenthal is on these forums and CAF too

Apologies, Bronty - I get told constantly that sarcasm is the lowest form of humor...but that does not seem to stop me from engaging in it!

Ron is a close friend - I just wanted to blow him some about his ridiculous additions this past year.

OK, I finally jumped in with a few pieces. In no particular order--

Daredevil 171 cover by Frank Miller and Klause Janson

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7650

Uncanny Xmen 59 splash by Neal Adams and Tom Palmer

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7651

Dr. Strange and Clea poster by Adam Hughes

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7652

Not many new additions for me this year but what I did acquire I truly treasure. Hope you like them too.

Scott - c'mon now...you have to prepare me for the shock of that DD cover a little better than 'OK, I finally jumped in with a few pieces.' BTW - it somehow gets better every time I look at it...which is often. - Chris

The DD #171 cover is sweet, but it's the Adams X-Men #59 splash that I just can't turn away from - it's really the late Silver Age, and the all-too-short Thomas/X-Men run in particular where I feel Marvel really hits its stride, with more realism and maturity compared to earlier in the Silver Age.

The #58 splash is pretty OK too. ;)
