So if the book is a 9.0, I guess 8.5 and my opponent guesses 9.4, he wins even though I am closer on the letter grade? Not sure about that rule....

 

8.5 would win over 9.4. 8.5 & 9.2 would be a tie.

Right, that's why I am asking. By the above logic, a 9.4 would beat an 8.5 on a 9.0 book b/c it is .1 closer numerically, even though a 9.4 is off by 2 letter grades as opposed to an 8.5 which is only off by one.

Doesn't make sense to me either...hopefully Nikos will post the rules in the 1st round thread and not leave them buried somewhere in this thread as I've not been able to keep up with the nonsense here!

i would have bet the ranch that the answer would have been a simple "both guesses are one grade apart - TIE - just like in the last grading contest.....
