Deadpool 2 Reportedly Loses Director Tim Miller

Deadpool director Tim Miller has left his position on Deadpool 2, citing creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds.

Miller never officially signed on for Deadpool 2, though he was developing the -script and gave every indication that he planned to return for the sequel.

The Deadline report explains that the creative differences were mutual and that Miller exited the project amicably. 20th Century Fox, for its part, still thinks highly of Miller and plan to attach him to the film adaptation of David Suarez's novel Influx, which has the potential to become a film trilogy. Mark Bomback is writing the -script for Influx.

Uh oh.

How is Reynolds as a director?

Ryan Reynolds IMDb (Producer, Actor, Soundtrack...

He would most probably find someone that matches the style of the first movie. And even though Deadpool was Tim Miller's first movie directing work, he came with a lot of creative directing experience from his animation work.

Deadpool Director, Ryan Reynolds Clashed Over Cable Casting

Now, after doing some digging, Umberto "El Mayimbe" Gonzalez of The Wrap is claiming the two clashed over the sequel's tone and who should play Cable — the powerful time-traveling mutant with a bionic arm and a messiah complex

"Miller, who owns a visual effects studio and we’re told did much of the polishing work on the original Deadpool for free, wanted more of a stylized sequel, while the actor placed his focus more on the raunchy comedy style that earned the first movie its R rating," The Wrap reports. "The casting issue also eventually came to a head over Kyle Chandler‘s rumored participation. Miller wanted the Bloodline star to play Cable, though Reynolds did not. Ultimately, the studio backed its marketable star, and the man behind the camera packed up his lenses."

While it appeared as though Miller and Reynolds had a good working relationship, The Wrap also claims the two have a "contentious relationship" and hardly communicate with each other. Additionally, when Reynolds renegotiated his contract for Deadpool 2, he asked and received "casting approval and other creative controls," so 20th Century Fox and Miller couldn't just dismiss Reynolds's suggestions.

'He did it!'

Even other directors are sharing their concern.

This is like the biggest "who cares" I can think of. Get any good director and as long as the story is decent it'll be a good movie.

Too bad John Woo is 70, I'd love to see him direct something like this.

It may not be as simple as that. Imagine you have the perfect pairing of a comic book creative team, and one day a key member quits. Just plugging in someone else as good doesn't always bring the same thunder. Especially with Tim Miller. He had a lot of passion for this character, and its future.

As big a success as this movie was, they could have multiple directors already applying for the job. So this could be a non-event.

Ryan Renoylds is an actor. Actors have a disablity when it comes to their characters and some, when given licence to run free with them, end up becoming absoultely terrible

He already has a problem thinking he is Deadpool., this will not bode well if he can't reign himself in.

IF this was the reason "creative differences" came into effect for the director leaving....

Creative differences could mean a plethora of things

This was his first movie, I'm not worried.

A movie director who doesn't write or cut his own stuff is basically an editor in your analogy.

What affected the "quality" of the X-Men more...Roger Stern leaving as editor or John Byrne leaving as penciler / co-plotter?

It would be worse if we lost Ryan Reynolds and kept Tim Miller. So there's that.

***Cup half full perspective

100% agreed.

Yeah switching up actors with this character is a terrible idea.

Its not like the Matrix where the actress portraying The Oracle died, or same with Dumbledore in Harry Potter

It would be the end of this new franchise real fast. And that would be a shame.

Fan Starts Petition For Quentin Tarantino To Direct Deadpool 2

Carl Champion Jr. has launched a Change.org petition asking Reynolds to give the Deadpool 2 director’s chair to Quentin Tarantino. Here’s the text of Champion’s petition:

"If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!"

Champions petition at the time of this writing has 644 supporters and is seeking 1000. If the petition reaches 1000 supporters, then...well, we’re not really sure what is supposed to happen. There’s no telling if Tarantino has any interest in directing a Deadpool movie. Reynolds is a producer on Deadpool 2, but – assuming he’s even aware of this petition – it isn’t like he can go and kidnap Tarantino and force him to work on Deadpool 2.

As much as I like Tarantino, I'd much rather see Matthew Vaughn direct it.

Tarantino won't do it. He wants to stick with his own stories and he hate sequels.
plus, he wouldn't be able to litter the -script with the n word for no reason. Edited by Hawkman
