Package arrived from MILE HIGH. Lets see if these WAR books are NM like they claim. Probably not I know.

Alrighty....I'll post scans and tell me what you all think of the grades.

In case you are wondering the Lois Lane 84cgc9.2 Dallas Stephens and Tomahawk 108 cgc9.4 Dallas Stephens were correctly graded. After all they were cgc books.

 

The Tomahawk 108 has stunning gloss.

GI Combat 126- A little dirty on the back. Sharp corner all around. 3 small spine stresses that ever so slightly break color. See scan to see what I mean. Also, a few spine ticks on spine as well. Staples are nice and clean.

A nice structally sound copy. Only 1 small spine stress that doesn't really break color. Very slight imapcts at top right and bottom right front cover.

Star Spangled War Stories 141

This one is worst of the bunch. Too much spine stress keep it from the NM range Two big ones at top of spine on front. It does have nice gloss.

Well I think Mile High did okay on this order. After reviewing the books one more time here is what I think.

GI Combat 126- 8.5/9.0 -leaning to 9.0

GI Combat 128- 9.2

SSWS 141- 8.0/8.5- leaning to 8.5

 

None NM but close enough. So do I keep them and if so which ones?

 

I'm thinking of keeping the GI Combats and returning the SSWS.

There are a bunch of amazing tank vs plane covers from say GIC 105-135. And 136 IIRC is tank vs. submarine.

Personally, I would return the 141. You can do better for cheaper. The other two are nice and I think I'd hang onto them.

Maybe I should have snagged the few other GI Combats that they had in that issue range.

Nice books all in all, Buck. Agree on the SSWS. It's nice, but not for the price and advertised grade.

My threshold for prices on books like this is, "can I get it for less on Ebay?"

 

The GICs are impossible in grade. I think those are actually below market prices there.

 

The SSWS can be found infrequently on Ebay for about half that.
