Native American Comics

After I finish my Conan run am wanting to start a run of comics staring Native Americans.

Problem is the only one I know of is The Apache Kid.

What else is out there?

Scalped is the obvious one. Thunderbird had a run in X-Men, though that's a team book, and he wasn't around long, so that may not be of interest to you. Alpha Flight had Shaman and Talisman.

In the early 70's there was Red Wolf who appeared in several comics....Google "Red Wolf" Marvel comics...you'll get a list of appearences...first appearence Avengers #80 vol 1....

Scout is about a N.A., but it's set in the near future. It's a great read with several spinoffs.

Arak is about a N.A. who ends up in Europe long before Columbus gets here.

 

It's kind of like a historical Conan. Arak is a savage who in Forrest Gump manner meets all the lead characters of the age.

There's one called "red warrior". A joe sinnott signed copy is coming up somewhere (heritage I think.) There was one called redskin. And then there's Arak, sun of thunder.

These could also go on the character list... There's a bunch of western titles from the 1950s like White Indian and Indian Warriors... Some have some pretty nice painted covers.

 

This has been a collecting theme for me, but I've gone by cover rather than series. Things like New mutants #18 or Manifest Destiny #12 are beautiful.

I'm writing a graphic novel and it's going to be illustrated by the very talented Rahsan Ekedal. It won't come out until next year, but I saw this thread title so I had to post.

Both really. Where the N.A. is the central character of the comic. If that makes sense.
