It looks like the Dept of Redundant Redundancy got involved and added it to the narrative circle as well.

I'm glad the editor put the word balloon on this one, or I'd have never guessed what was going on... doh!

Concerning the Black Cat 15 and TOMB 50, I seem to remember a number of high grade copies (maybe file copies) coming to light in the early 1990's.

I also seem to remember the iconic METROPOLIS catalog listing them for a modest amount of $$$ around the same time.

Maybe one of the Metropolis guys could shed some light on this.

Don't get me wrong though...CLASSIC covers that anyone would be proud to own

Anybody have the METRO catalog (the one with Fantastic 3 on the cover) with the price they were asking back then ?

Yeah, the DRR was hard at work at ACG.... at least this one has a cool theme as the grace that saves it...

Revisited: AIU 39.

Got to looking at the panels on the cover. Is it me, or does the "creature shadow" look akin to the Wolverton WToF flying beastie? Also, how 'bout old fish face in the center panel. Does he looked swiped from that one cover of BEWARE, or is it my overactive imagnation again? (shrug):gossip:

Sounds good!

I just tried this concoction sent to me from Lynn's sister in Germany.

Jagertee, a hot drink made with Austrian rum. OK but not exactly my cup of tea (pun intended!)

Back on topic: a recent pick-up. Not pre-code but a great Everett cover! :D

Funny you say that as that is what attracts me to these post-code covers.

The limitations and restrictions that the CCA put forth only made the artists more creative IMHO.

Plus Everett seemed to put more detailed (crosshatching) linework in most of the post-code covers.

...some of those post-codes are pretty sweet for all the reasons mentioned. Is it my imagination, or do the Atlas books also seem a bit different in terms of shade/ color tones compared to the pre-codes... as in a possible tech jump in printing quality??? (shrug)

I remember a CBG ad (Metropolis?) from the early 90s with at least 3 copies in VF+ to NM all for $100 or less - of course they were all long gone when I called. Back then the premium on a NM over a VF+ book was only 25-30%
