Almost double what I was thinking..... I wonder what Gabe's Venus 19 would do at public auction ? GOD BLESS....

Suspect it would be comparable....am I crazy??

No. If a 6.5 JIM #6 can top 3K, then anything is possible. Grade for grade even the major PCH grails are less expensive than gold and many silver hero keys, and GA classic covers can outstrip them in many cases - a 9.0 Suspense #3, Fantastic #3, MM#46 or Dynamic #8 would leave them in the dust.

So true.

Though 9500+ is way outta my league anyways... :sorry:

I hope I don't offend the horror purists by sharing this here. None of the pre-code HOM, Phantom Stranger, Sensation / Sensation Mystery, and SSC covers were truly horrific. Just lots and lots of stories about ghosts and the occult. This SSC #129 is a personal fave and as close to "horror" as DC ever got.

..... maybe my favorite cover of the run..... I remember about 10 years ago I basically "stole" a CGC copy of 122 at a Clink auction...... and it was even undergraded..... GOD BLESS....

Not really textbook PCH either but...

Let's see:

(glowing) Skeleton coming out of coffin. CHECK

Mad Doctor with sinister looking potion. CHECK

Severed heads hanging in dungeon. CHECK

Damsel in distress. CHECK

Cobwebs and candle. CHECK

Fits my bill!

I never really noticed that stamp. I must say that I remember seeing the cover somewhere years ago (maybe in the Gerber's) and then forgot all about it. Until I saw a copy of the book posted here on the boards. That's when I went and got me a copy of it. I was surprised to see that the book is relatively inexpensive.

It's a great book, but the reason it is relatively inexpensive (aside from the fact that Bobby Benson isn't a highly regarded title) is that for some reason it is very common. I've had a ton of them over the years. Kept one for me though. I love it (thumbs u

That issue does seem to come up more often, especially more than any of the Frazetta covers.

This is another fav and a tough black cover to boot!
