Beautiful comic! Who did the cover art? It looks like an airbrush cover.

Yup. Kelly Freas did it. It is airbrushed. Off the top of my head, I think it is the only Kelly Freas airbrushed horror cover period. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Did anyone see this?

Very cool post for #1,000! 893applaud-thumb.gif

Well guys, I think I'm gonna need you all to channel me some mojo for my wedding this evening! Last night at the rehearsal I physically choked when it came time for me to repeat my vows. Couldn't do it! 3 times! The first two times it was like my voice just wouldn't work, so the pastor just went on to the next thing. The third time I told him he couldn't skip until I repeated my vows. Man! It took me forever because when I did get words out they were either inaudible with laughter or crying or both! Dang, I thought this was going to be easy!!!!! frustrated.gif

I'd bet by now, Keith is over and done with the tough part - but I can't help but wonder - is this cover at all indicative of the aftermath? Guess we'll have to ask him when he's back on. wink.gif

Congrats again PCK!

Keeping along with the Atlas output, which (considering how many books they produced) I really don't have enough of in my collection - is Journey Into Mystery #16. Not sure who did the cover, but it's certainly "Atlas" in its look and very a nice cover image - down to the tweed pattern in Mr. Half-Vamp's pants. Guess it doesn't pay to hang out by the jewelry shop near the cemetery at midnight...

Now on to some Story stories - Mysterious Adventures #12, besides its great, green cover, has one of the most wonderfully grossest stories leading it off, chock full of mysterious, glowing, vengeful body parts - yeecchh! Also another rather Crypt-Keeper-ish horror host, to spin the yarns.

Carrying on, Mysterious Adventures #13 is a logical followup - they sure liked messing around with the cover logo formula. Not so sure I care for this style, but there's no denying the appeal of a large, flaming skull - which is why I've always rather liked the look of Ghost Rider...

Lessee - Mister Mystery - that's a good title... you've seen my #8 earlier on in this thread, but there are some others in this moldy old crypt. Number 10, that's a nice even number, and one of my absolute fave Bernard Bailey images! This book and the next, I got from none other than "Terrible Ted" at Superworld - rathaw a friendly guy to buy funnybooks from, no doubt about it.

Now this one I got very recently from Ted - bummer chip missing from the upper left, but happily, in hand it doesn't distract. Did I say #10 was my fave Bernard Bailey image? It's got some stiff competition here - not to mention the Wolverton art inside - cut up and rearranged from "Robot Woman" though it be!

This here cover is from another great title - The THING! - this one #5. Really I don't know why she doesn't just split now - she feels some sense of duty to complete her wax museum security rounds? Lou Morales put in quite a few creepy elements, and you have to love the early THING! issues when the title is chock full of additional art. Not that you can tell it from here, but in the exclamation point there's quite a buxom-lookin' vampire babe...
