Frank Brunner painted commission 1978

7 posts in this topic

I wanted to share this new addition to my Doctor Strange Gallery. It is a large (15 " x 11") painted image of Doctor Strange dated 1978. It is hard to tell if the inks are original or if it is a printed image someone has painted on. Since I can't tell I have my doubts that the inks are there. Are there any Frank Brunner experts/fans who would like to weigh in? I have heard of artists having pre-printed images that they customize but I am not familiar with this image, maybe some else remembers it. It is wonderful but I wish I had more to go on.

Can't say definitively, but I have my doubts that the linework is original. Feels like a colored print to me but I am just guessing. If you aren't sure if the ink is original that's never a good sign as usually its obvious.

it is wonderful. I think Frank is my favorite Doc artist of them all. Man, that is tough to even type but I think it may be true. Others may equal him, but I think Frank draws the best Doc consistently.

Frank's stuff is great. Got a Red Sonja commission from him many years ago. Ended up selling it (like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person), would love to get something else some day. He draws some dreamy babes. :cloud9:
