2017 GA Goals

Pick up at least one more Harvey pocket sized issue and at least one more MLJ.

 

Well you and I seem to share similar interests in AWESOME books brother!! I just got a pretty sweet MLJ knocked off of the list tonight...Great way to ring in 2017 with a Bang!! :acclaim:

Get a copy of Action 2 and 7 and All A-16

 

I thought the Action 2 and 7 that were in the last CC auction went very reasonably.

 

 

$40k is i nice new car Hudson (shrug) Did i ever tell you that in 1982 i was offered a copy of Action 1 beat but complete he wanted 3000 i said no :censored: way for that better doh! Happy new year Hudson :wishluck: you get that book this year

 

I agree with you 100%, Harold. $40K is a new car and a decent one at that. I simply meant the $40K price on the #7 seemed reasonable (if I can use that word) compared to what other copies have recently sold for. That book seems to be on fire. I remember when OSPG put the #5 as more valuable than the #7. Now 7s seem untouchable. To be honest, I think the price of LOTS of books are insane given they are "just" comic books, and yet what is the FMV of something? Is it not dictated by the law of supply and demand?

 

I have all but given up on getting an AC1. The big let down on that copy earlier in 2016 (when I offered the seller full asking price and was told he wanted to wait and see if someone else wanted it for the same price), really left me wondering if I was not chasing down the wrong path..

 

I hope you do find a #2 and #7, you can fit into your budget AND still feel good about it.

 

I think my goal for 2017, IF I sold books, would be to clear out a lot of the books I have and focus on those I really enjoy (like early Actions, some GGA, and other random books). Since, I am not a comic seller, I guess that goal is dead before it leaves the gate.

Prices just went to far :makepoint: I see you have two 3s hm There are 1s out there you might just have to dump things you really dont need (shrug)

the new book prices take all the fun out of trying to having a lot of diff titles

After a pretty good run in 2016 (you can see my annual summary in my journal here ), I'm seeing a slower 2017 ahead.

 

I'd like to pick up a Batman 15 at some stage, and chip away a few more from the WDC&S 1-100 run (20 to go). But I think I'm drifiting towards Australian comics... though I could be wrong. lol

I will kick it off

 

1. Submit some GA Batman's and Detectives for grading. I have about 30 or so to submit.

 

2. Pick up that elusive Batman 11 to upgrade my copy.

 

3. Pick up on GA #1 from my want list.

 

My three top goals:

 

1. To buy more old label High Grades that are in my wheelhouse.

 

2. To buy one or more sought after grail books in grade.

 

3. To add another painting from the GA to my collection.

My goal is to buy more raw issues of Freelance Comics this year and perhaps grow my collection of Canadian Whites more generally. I'd also like to build some more runs of Canadian FECA-era books.

:applause: Cool pick up Gino. Only three years ago, you could get a 6.5 for the price your copy went for last night on some eBay 'Buy it Now' listings. (Ah, regrets..)! Congrats! HNY!

I will probably just keep buying unknown stuff that grabs my attention. I would love to add a few more MLJs and finish off my Ace collection.

The biggest goal for me:

 

1. Quality over quantity. As fun as it is getting packages every week, I'm definitely narrowing my focus to "must haves" over "oh, this is cool and cheap, let's buy it."

2. Contact 12, to complete the Cole trinity of classic sci-fi covers.

3. Cap 27, 39

4. Maybe a Harvey Speed or two.

5. Startling Terror 11 (have bid on about a half dozen copies and lost every time, need to FINALLY nail this one down)

6. Xela sci-fi airbrush.
