Here's a ricochet (as far as I could track it within FH) -

We start in 1942 in comics: Jumbo -

detour in 1946 in pulps: Jungle Stories -

and return to the comics in 1948 in Planet -

We know about the Jungle Stories to Jumbo / Jungle and within the Planet Stories to Planet Comics but a few others are to be found across other genres like this one -

1942 pulp -

to 1951! comics -

I tend to think Lou Fine was responsible for launching (pun intended) this whole "spear-in-motion" motif.

Finally, here's a grab bag of other covers with similarities significant enough I noted them down. There are only so many variations of the Jungle themes that some covers do look similar but are not quite identifiable as swipes. These below exceeded some internal threshold that would vary from observer to observer. Meaning you might not see what I see or I left some off that you would have included. Make of the list what you want.

Yes I did. Bought from the boards own Forbush Man along with a couple of early Rangers. He had a nice new collection of FH books. Many early tough ones that are rarely seen. Should have bought more...

I like pretty colors...so I got this at Terry's show...but my scanner over-scanned the dots on the blues and greens.  They are actually a smooth transition...

Robotman sold me these pieces of junk...He told me they might be a good investment 50 years from now... 

And last, but not least, I got this...I think she's going to get the point...
