I hate to say it as it may affect some of the newbies who are honest , but this is another perfect example why posters with a small post count should not be allowed to sell.

Well, I think that anyone can pull that a fast one. It's just that most of the posters here are tight knit. I recently had a seller tell me that he had all the issues on my WTB list but only produced scans of an assortment. Something did not feel right so I lowballed him and he went away.

I saw that he listed only the handful of scanned issues on ebay. I find this odd that he would not have up all the issues on ebay. His auction did not sell and he has yet to list them all the issues from my WTB list on ebay. This seller has a post count in the 4 figures, should I trust him based on this high number?

I am not saying that he was definitely trying to pull a fast one on me but it is up to the buyer to feel confident with the purchase. Something about this did not feel right and I walked way.

Adam's current sales thread is by far one of the best, if not THE best ever put on these Boards in my short 2 years here...

...and he did it RIGHT before Christmas :whatthe:(worship)

Anyone have to adjust fire on any gift giving planning to accomodate the purchase of any of these wonderful books?

I hope his reasons for selling his collection won't prevent him from staying involved in the hobby :sorry:

New topic:

With all due respect to my fellow board members, isn't a post in the announcement thread to "gauge the interest" and asking for PM's tantamount to using the Marketplace Forum to offer a private sale, and thereby avoiding any thread posting and requisite guidelines? Seems to me that there have been an awful lot of "micro-sales threads" embedded within the anouncement thread of late, many of which have never "matured" to actual sales threads.

We all know who is going to come down on which side of this discussion point, but nevertheless . . . thoughts?

I thought the announcement thread was designed to inform buyers of a future sales thread and allow them to plan to be on site for sales threads of interest. It makes sense that some buyers would p.m.sellers to get a leg up on everyone else. Kinda like people showing up at garage sales before the official starting time.

No worse than flipper/presser/dealers hogging all the books. ;)

Yeah, stop that. :baiting:

Which ironically, goes to the true purpose of a "marketplace" - to establish a place for a market where all buyers are equal . . . and thus let the rules of supply and demand prevail. :)
