I'm not familiar with the Heritage bidding process Gad - when do we find out how much the damn thing sold for?

Internet bidding ended about 5 minutes ago.

I am monitoring the live bidding.  The AF 15 is going to be approx the 30th lot that comes up.

I'm guessing in 30 minutes we'll know

I just found the link, ta. It's better than what's on the telly at the moment.

Might crack open a Cherryade and a bag of Wotsits and settle in to watch...

It'll be interesting to see how they describe it.

"We've been told by a guy called Albert Tatlock from the United States of England that this is actually a You Kay Price Variant....."

I have emailed HA as follows:

Lot 91032 - AF 15.

You have this described as a 'UK Edition'.

It is in fact a UK Price Variant, as stated on the CGC label.

There is a significant distinction between these terms.

'UK Edition' may be read by some as a reprint.

The item you are offering is a first printing, with a variant price.

Whether it will register with them remains to be seen.

He called it a "UK Edition" about fifty times Albert, so I don't think it registered.

Or it did, and he was just taking the piss

When are you selling yours then

And I panicked that it wouldn't break $100k.

My wife will be very happy when she comes home from work today.

(wait a minute..... should I even tell my wife about this sale???)

Told ya. It aint over until the big bird has sung her song.

Given the possible reservations I outlined earlier though, that's an amazing price really. No pun in ten did.

So there you have it.

A UK Pence copy has officially set a record and broken thru the $100k ceiling.

A historic moment for Pence copies.

I know I will be raising a glass tonight in celebration.

Indeed. And we watched it live on the telly Zukes, me and thee!

We're all out of Cherryade so Marwood has just cracked open a crate of Tizer. The finest wines available to humanity weren't available, alas, but you can't have everything can you. Enjoy your pence copy Gad. One day, it will buy you a house :)

Nice of them to take our concerns on board.

Thank you?

I think they got the first word wrong Albert.

And Nylie Ridge? What is that, an anagram or something out of the Kama Sutra?

GPA says the last US 7.0 AF15 went for $162,000.

So this Pence copy came in at 81% of the last US copy.

Not bad

Oh... but if that $191k CL price is true.... this one is only about 70% of that one.

Well, that $162K for a cents 7.0 was a big jump from the $110K of March last year, the former high per GPA.  I don't recall any $191K on CL for a 7.0 this year.  Anyway, that one (or both) prior sales tested new highs.  Either way, $132K for a pence is still a nice precedent in the realm of pricey, high-grade SA grails, simply b/c sales of high grade pence copies of grails are so rare!

This Pence sale may do a few things....

1) Remove the "Stigma" from Pence copies.

2) Encourage more copies to come to auction because of the strong sale.

3) Encourage more raw copies to come out of collections and get slabbed.
