How many titles do you collect ?

60 posts in this topic

For my part i focus on four marvel titles:

Daredevil (vol. 1)

Amazing spider-man (vol.1)

Iron Man (vol.1)

Fantastic Four (vol.1)

In fact, i collect the main titles translated & censored in France in the 70's-80's.

I sometimes buy Superman and Action comics.

What is your goal ? Do you collect all the titles from Marvel ? From DC ?

Murph, what happened to "I'm looking to complete my ASM run, and I'm done with the hobby"? tongue.gif

I told you you wouldn't be content to just collect one title. I almost wish I wasn't right because who needs more collectors fighting for Silver Marvels? grin.gif

My goal: high grade runs of the first two years of FF, X-men, ASM , and Hulk(v1). Then only major keys of those issues after issue 24.

I currently collect Marvels: ASM, X-men (1+2), X-statics, Capt Marvel, Hulk, Daredevil, CBG (for reading). Every now and then I buy Batman, Superman (v2), X-men unlimited.

Here's my current list...I hope to whittle it down to about 10 titles by the fall...just don't have the time to read so much, especially with all the unread back issues and TPBs I have (enough reading material to last me, conservatively, through mid-2007)...

Amazing Spider-Man (has been disappointing lately, though)

Incredible Hulk (I'm not a Hulk fan, but the Jones run is superb)

Daredevil (Bendis continues to be at the top of his game)

Ultimate Spider-Man (Ditto)

Ultimate X-Men (current storyline is fantastic, may drop the title after the Bendis storyline that follows)

Ultimates

New X-Men (this series is overrated, but still better than most)

X-Statix (will drop once the price hike goes into effect)

Rawhide Kid (this series has far exceeded my expectations)

Spider-Man/Black Cat (will this series ever be completed?)

Daredevil: The Target (Ditto)

Avengers (will drop after Johns leaves later this year)

Sojourn

Ruse (thinking about dropping since I have a Comics on the Web subscription)

The Path (Ditto)

Y – The Last Man

Batman

Codename: Knockout (series ending with the next issue)

American Century (series cancellation announced yesterday)

My back issue collecting is split up into two themes; reading runs and collectibles. I would like to complete reading runs of all my favorite books; X-books, Spider-man books, Batman books, Thor, Daredevil, and the like. My current top priority in reading runs is completing my run of Thor. I have everything from issue 190 on. After that, I'll look to complete runs of Daredevil and the Batman books. That should keep me busy long enough for the movie hype on the X-men and Spidey sequels to die down.

As for collectibles, my current priorities are completing my run of Simonson Thors. After that, I'm looking to put together a complete run of Miller Daredevils and then John Byrne Alpha Flights. Someday, when I hit the lottery, then I'll strive towards some loftier goals in this area.
