Round 1 COMMENTARY

Was it only a year ago that 144 contestants from far off lands assembled to once again battle for the Ultimate Prize... That title only spoken in hushed tones at conventions and dark, sweaty, musty halls filled with rows of long white boxes containing colorful ephemera: Grading Champion.

Now 126 brave new challengers have come forth to lay claim to this year's title. Will it be you? Do you have what it takes? Will you see the journey through to the end? 

Congrats to AJD, Azkaban, comicwiz, ElrodAllWrong, guldanaaron1, Ryan, and Squad008 for Double Bullseyes this round and the lead. 

 

For the rest of you, the chase is on. 

Round 1 was easy. ROUND 2 will be harder!

I'm still surprised that 13 people felt the Crimes By Women was a 5.0 or better.

That means all of you are tied for 1st, 8th, and 53rd... (You can either have two bullseyes, one bullseye, or ZERO bullseyes...)

I tied for 8th, what does the place number on the second table mean where it says I'm 26... in the place by round...

But being fair to them, their grade *might* reflect that they thought CGC would call it that grade, not that they would call it that themselves. Sometimes you are taking your best shot at guessing CGC's standards for an odd combo of defects vs. what you might give it personally.
