Comic Cubes Review 3 3

About 2 months ago, I put in and order for comic cubes.  Instead of the condo, I opted for the modular system so I can rearrange/add to it if necessary.  

The operation is only about 90 minutes from my house, so when I get the call, I'll be heading over there to pick it up in person.  I hope to hear from them in the next few weeks.  When I placed my order, I was told the turnaround time was around 10 weeks.  

I'll be sure to share pictures when it arrives.

A couple of Fridays ago, I got home from work and took a look in my inbox to find that my Cubes were ready.  The next day, I took the middle seats out of the minivan and drove 1 hour to Shillington PA to Urban Timber...home of Comic Cubes!

(I realize this picture is upside down.  It's right side up on my phone and when I open it from my desktop, but inverted here on the boards.  Strange.)

The place is literally a one-man operation.  Adam was great to speak with.  Very personable.  He gave me a quick tour of his shop and even had my piece set up to view before he packed it up for transport:

Instead of the condo (1 solid piece of furniture), I opted for the modular unit.  Each drawer is it's own cube and they can be stacked and rearranged pretty easily.  I got 4 regular sized comic drawers and 6 graded comic drawers.  The modular design makes it easy for me to move without having to ask my wife to lug a heavy piece of furniture up and down stairs, which is a plus.  It also allowed me to easily fit each drawer on the floor of the minivan, making it very easy to bring home.  Additionally, it leave the door open for adding more drawers...something I'll likely do in the future.  Once assembled and locked in with pegs, the overall unit is very sturdy.  The drawers are very smooth and everything fits together very well.

My comic room is unfinished.  Literally...still needs walls and carpet.  So I can't give you a full tour, but I can show you what I've got now that this is home and set up.  I'm very happy with how my Comic Cube came out.  When I make more progress on my comic room, I'll post better pictures.

I received my first Comic Cubes a few weeks ago and really love them.  I opted to go with two 2x2 units so that they would be a bit more modular than a 1 piece 2x4 and am glad I did so.  It took 2 people to lift the 2x2, so I can’t imagine trying to move anything heavier.  Very sturdy and well designed.  The drawers have a slow close feature and are not flimsy in the least.  All my GA/SA books are now settled and comfortable.  Only problem is that I’m about of space already, and may one day consider adding another 2x2.  Comic Condos isn’t currently taking orders due to backlog and hard to get supplies, but I do recommend in the future for anyone interested.

I have a completely unrelated question. Do you still own that Mr T #1 with a Steranko cover?
