I love Mike's site, but did he show all the books on sale each month or just a selection?

I'm pretty sure the selection is larger than it used to be, but I can't verify if it's 100% all.  I'm sure someone one here would know.

On sale in November 1939 sorted by publication date.

First Swastica (anti axis propaganda cover?)  1st appearance of interventionism in comic book media?

1st appearance of The Flash and the first "patriotic" themed super hero The Shield.

I think I've heard of Planet and Fight Comics...  they had #1s this month too.

I think these comic books things might be here to stay....

And finally On sale in December 1939 sorted by publication date.

About to enter the new year with regular Batman and Superman covers, Sub-Mariner's first cover starts Timely's war against the Nazis, a couple more #1 issues one of which pisses off DC.

Did Jack Kirby have anything published in 1939?  I would assume so, but I'm too tired to check now.  I look forward to more about 39!

I had to look and saw:

Jack first used the surname Kirby as the pseudonymous Lance Kirby in two "Lone Rider" Western stories in Eastern Color Printing's Famous Funnies #63–64 (Oct.–Nov. 1939).[12]

But those might be reprints... so... idk.  help.

Kirby did interior work in Jumbo Comics #1 (on sale July 1938), and issues #2 and #3 as well. The OSPG also supports this.

A very good month!!  Speed #1, Marvel #1, classic Detective and Jumbo covers.  Perhaps the first Superman vs an obvious Military vehicle.

Speaking of Marvel #1, it's good to see two unrestored NOV copies go to auction in the same week. Both have decent registration. The last MC 1 to be offered publicly, was a 3.0 copy with blurry registration on HA in 2016.

Wow!  Knockout cover.  Not often reproduced, I think.  I assume from the cover date and the general look of the young woman and her surroundings that she's Italian.  In addition to his depictions of everyday U.S. scenes, Rockwell could produce some powerful stuff.

I like seeing all the books that would have been on the stands in a given month. I have to say, if I'd been a kid taking my precious dimes to the newstand, I doubt I would have looked beyond the DC hero books, the Fox books and the Timelys, as they all have the covers that jump out from the rest.

So, no issue of Action Comics was printed that month?  Just Double Action #2?  I never knew that.

Thanks @Knightsofold for all the great work on this thread! Really interesting to see the progression of the early publishers, styles & characters mapped out in the monthly cover gallery. Gives me a much greater appreciate for the Fox and Centaur books which looked amazing compared to some of their newsstand peers. As mainly a Timely/Atlas collector, hadn't really given much attention to the Fox/Centaur timelines and their historical significance before it was mapped out.
