How can he breathe or see in that thing

Serious comic answer: The god running the show does not really care about needing eyes. Also, Doctor Fate has full control over every aspect of his being on an atomic level (literally how they described it back then), which meant he wasn't beholden to any physical limitation - he never needed to breath in that form in the early stories, it was only when DC transitioned him to the crappy half-helmet in More Fun #72 that he actually needed to breath...so crappy mob guys could knock him out with gas (up until that point all his appearances nothing could stop him, and he only once got knocked down by a laser cannon)

Magic.  Duh!

Kind of like when people questioned how Quill was flying with his shoe rockets in Endgame without falling over.

The answer? "These are comic book movies!"

Doctor Fate might be enough of an incentive to entice me back to the cinema to watch a super-hero film for the first time since Endgame.

Lifelong one of my favourite characters, and, looks great here.

Superman floats up behind him, camera pans to reveal Shazam next to him.

Superman's head is obscured by objects and out of frame, only a multi-million dollar CGI lip occasionally slips into our view. Shazam flies away shortly after due to contractual obligations.
