Where to buy Bronze Age DC Comics?

Hi all,

I want to invest in some good quality (9.4+) slabbed items from the DC Bronze Age.  In particular, I am thinking about Neal Adams' covers on Green Lantern, Batman, Superman and JLA titles.  Later Silver Age DC stuff is also of interest.

I have struggled to find UK sources and have been predominantly looking on Ebay (.uk and .com), where the prices requested can vary wildly.

I wondered if anyone could recommend reliable, ethical suppliers who specialise in DC Bronze Age stuff?

I have bought a couple of items from the US via Best Offer bids, but both of the suppliers are small and have a very restricted range on offer.

Many thanks.

In my experience as a collector, you have to let the books come to you. I prefer patience and getting the 'right' copy above checking off want lists and settling for placeholders. Unless you find somebody with a brand new collection coming to market I doubt if any dealers 'specialize' in any particular genre. I would just watch the auctions from all the big guys, Comiclink, Heritage, etc.  Check the dealers that have websites. Bob Storms will alert you to all new inventory via E-Mail. Good Luck !

Thanks both, appreciate the advice.  Who are the best dealers with websites? - being new to this and based in the UK - I'm not sure where to begin looking as there are so many options out there in the US and Canada.  A little guidance would be appreciated, if possible, otherwise I will do the 'hard yards' on Google! : )

You might want to check out this seller based in the UK. It's run by a boardie by the name of Flaming Telepath. I'm not sure what he has at the moment for what you're looking for but he's a great seller.

This is generally a great outlook for collecting, but, sometimes the "right" copy just isn't available and you may have to "settle".

I watched the markets for 2+ years on Adventures of Superman #497 signed by Jerry Ordway, and the only copy on the market in that span (that I'm aware of) was a 9.6, despite desiring a 9.8. Considering the low SS count on the Census I had to jump on that when my budget opened for it.

Unfortunately, it's a little difficult filtering through this site to find exactly what you're looking for, because there are a lot of sellers with a lot of great books.

Patience is a virtue, though. Bob's advice is very solid.

Social Media is not a bad way to start a relationship with a dealer, even a small time dealer.

My best customer is overseas and sends me want lists that I fulfill for him at a pace and price that works for both of us. I have the access here in the U.S. that he does not. We started discussing comics over Instagram and, after a few purchases, I was able to earn his trust and he began sending me want lists. You may be able to find some good dealers on social media just by checking out posts that interest you.
