I think I remember reading in one of my comic history books (The Ten-Cent Plague?) the figure mentioned by CDNP was based on a belief at the time that a kid who bought a comic shared it with, on average, ten other kids. I wrote a story in the Garage sale/Flea market thread. All the comics were in one oversized wine cardboard box that fit in my car.
