Stopped off at a garage sale this weekend and bought a small collection. About 95% are newsstand copies. Mostly, X-men, Wolverine, FF and Wolverine (Not the She-Hulk obviously) Bought the entire lot because I’m trying to finish the DD and 100 pagers in newsstands.

Added more to my Wolverine , Superman,  and Action Comics newsstand runs.

Love that All-Star Batman & Robin! I’m a little surprised that Frank Miller’s “I’m the g*****n Batman” stuff wasn’t considered to be too edgy for the newsstand market.

Here’s a few finds from a recent trip to Half Price Books. My personal definition of “mixed feelings” is finding a post-year 2000 X-men newsstand issue in a 50-cent bin but with a price sticker applied directly to the cover. 

The most interesting find is actually the JSA issue that appears to be a newsstand edition with a direct sales sticker on top of the original barcode. Anyone have industry insight as to how/why that would have happened?

Just over 20 years ago now.... I decided to go back my roots and wax nostalgic by buying new books from my local variety store.  I managed to pull PPSS 9-48 complete with the 1999/2000 Annuals. The store also carried ASM & Wolverine. I no longer have the ASM run.  The day 36 (911 issue) came out , I grabbed it along with a couple other titles and went home. Once I read the issue, I went back and grabbed the rest of the copies. Slabbed 3 and kept one raw for myself. Came back 9.8 9.8 9.6

It was hit or miss whether the books would suffer damage at the hands of the store keeper putting them on the display.  After the first time I asked for a bag & they gorilla gripped the stack....I would bag them myself.
