Popular Post Bonthan Posted April 3, 2022 Popular Post Share Posted April 3, 2022 For me to purchase a comic when I was young I would have to skip school lunch and hit up the drug store at my bus stop. I didn’t even really know about comic shops. I definitely didn’t know there was one in my town. I didn’t like the direct editions that I saw. I thought of them as fake infomercial comics. I really didn’t like the 3 different covers for Spider-Man 1. In 2012 when I started putting a collection together of all the big boy books from my youth it was nothing but newsies. I consider myself lucky as all of these were purchased prior to the crazy prices some of these bring now. On all except Rom 1 I did not seek out newsstands as it's really not my thing, but I have them nonetheless. On the Moon Knight 1 I did purposely look for a copy with top/bottom centering that matched my childhood copy. Marvel starting June 1979, DC starting October 1980. If your asking if Hero issued direct sales editions, the answer is yes. The other 7 issues of this series that I own are all direct and these are the only Newstands i've come across. To be honest though, I don't have a clue what Hero's distribution ratio's of newstand to direct were back in the 80's just that usually independendents back then had more direct sale and often no newstands.
