I did laugh, your weapon a 5?

Yes, and that's on the soft.

Remember The Gremlin? Physical strength 1. And The Tarantula - a man of Muco Machinism as we used to say :bigsmile:

Brilliant. I gave my set to my nephew years back. I looked up some of the cards online. The images stay with you forever don't they.

Steve

Brings back good memories.

My first ever comic age 5. I remember persuading my mum to buy it for me.

Then it was first comic I bought on eBay which started me collecting comics again after nearly 30 years. I got a mint copy with the mask and felt like a wee boy again.

I remember the teacher at school was amazed at my knowledge of Norse mythology when we were doing a project on vikings. All thanks to the Mighty Thor which was SMCW back up story.

Mikey

Nice :)

They were fabulous comics weren't they Mikey, our old UK weekly reprints. The longways ones with the posters in the centre were things of beauty:

The unique covers, to fill in the gaps where US issues were split across multiple issues:

And the old paper stock covers:

Loved em :cloud9:

Yes some of the alternate covers were great - also thought the slightly bigger format black and white/restricted colour interiors gave greater clarity to the artwork.

Here are my # 1's with mask

Morning All :)

I may have mentioned once or fifteen million times that I used to be a Spidey completist. Had everything, all versions, variants, appearances etc.

So when I spotted this lot on eBore I was intrigued:

803373259_completesm2b.thumb.PNG.fa96ffab2a16333643011e09c132bf1e.PNG

Rare print with no date or logo: You say what Mister!

Now that's a new one on me and, as a completist does in these situations, I start to get excited. A new variant, hiding under the radar. Yippee! So I scour the web for a hundred and seventy straight hours looking for another example and come up with nothing.

Drat.

Then, on eBore UK of all places, I find this!

1226552088_completesm2c.thumb.jpg.998a2347c17891cdbc8f302e5e58423e.jpg 529325145_completesm2d.thumb.jpg.6232622c5b36a46fe71715a3c718b9f2.jpg

My God in Heaven, another one! Another rare under the radar variant that I will procure and proclaim to the masses, basking in the warm glow of "I found it first" achievement! :acclaim:

I buy it, and it arrives.

Inside I find:

Spider-Man (1990) #2 :whatthe:

20200502_115455.thumb.jpg.4a7b56a353db5f9fc5560b71c116f40d.jpg

Amazing Spider-Man #331 :whatthe::whatthe:

20200502_115522.thumb.jpg.459732c6c04838dde9598fa27165c9fc.jpg

Spectacular Spider-Man #162 :whatthe::whatthe::whatthe:

20200502_115542.thumb.jpg.df07b1b0c52cb72b3efa7cb24e50d434.jpg

...and Web of Spider-Man #63 :whatthe::whatthe::whatthe::whatthe:

20200502_115559.thumb.jpg.7e2d11c9a30e76006fd224c0c8701343.jpg

What is this thing!

Then I notice the first internal page is numbered '5'. '3' would be more appropriate. Suggests missing cover. So I hunt and I hunt and I hunt to try and find a compendium or TPB of some sort to explain this enigma.

This is exciting beyond belief! There is no such TPB / compendium with these issues!

And then I find it.

The UK 'Complete Spider-Man #2'

:p

What a friggin let down. I've just paid for, and researched, a cover-less, worthless UK reprint. Me of all people! :mad:

So I'm reminded of the old saying.

"There is no expert, no wise font of knowledge that, on occasion, when the circumstances are right, can't not make a prize pr:censored: of himself"

lol

Spoiler

1959965755_TheGameSmashUp.gif.53eeee7f3a7f195760d8eaad481336b5.gif

And all the bloody adverts were for UK editions too....

Reminds me of the Panini reprint comics that we got over here after UK distribution of American Marvels stopped.

Can't believe I fell for it Paul. Still, something to read during lockdown isn't it :)

I am curious, Steve.

Can you tell me what the shipping is to you?

I ask because this mob is enrolled in eBay's beloved Global Shipping Program and the cost to get a single keyring to me in Oz is an eye watering $US19.04.

Just never going to happen.

The distance from Arlington to London (I used that for argument's sake) is about half (4759 miles) than Arlington to me (8412 miles).

So of course you would be charged more for shipping doh!

Yet you can get loads of stuff shipped from China to the UK for either free or a very small amount, even cheaper than UK to UK (shrug)

Must be low worker wages etc keeping the costs down :(
