only tec 27 and tec 29 are better than tec 31, imo (thumbs u

Nah...33 is greater than 27.

:jokealert:

But really, it's so hard to rank them.

How do we define "better" anyway? FMV, cover, story, historical content, etc.?

I'd say 27, 33, 31, 29, etc....

But that could change tomorrow.

For what it's worth, I think 36 is a tad underrated and might become a bit more popular as the years go on.

I hear Hugo Strange plays an important role in Arkham City (for those who follow); although I wouldn't imagine that all of the big-time players in the Pre-Robin Tec market immerse themselves in games as much as myself and a few other boardies might.

My jaw dropped :o when I spotted this TEC 31 on eBay. I'm naturally very tempted but wondering if the opening bid price is fair for an extensive amateur restoration. And it's got white pages!
given that it is my book, I would have to be in the camp of "it is a fair opening bid".... lol

let's put it this way, I started the bidding at a price I was willing to sell at (thumbs u

:roflmao: Okay, G.A.tor! I was kinda surprised that it hasn't been discussed here yet since it's been up on eBay for a few days. I'm not all that familiar with the GA market so I thought I'd check with the pros for objective views... ;)

all joking aside, I am not sure that anyone on these boards or maybe even anyone out there in comic land (and I might be biased here, but I am including clink, heritage, comic connect, etc...probably only metro if I had to guess) have bought and sold more copies of Tec 31 in the past 5 years than yours truly...

it is a BIG niche book that I really enjoy, very liquid, and I consider myself pretty well versed to comment on value (sales motivation aside)

the book in hand looks very nice... it is not apparent that it is an "ext" book as in "franken-extensive", but more of just an accumulation of resto that add up...also, the book is "amatuer" due to the nature of the material used, not because the work is "amatuer"...it is looks to have been professionally restored, but not using current professional materials (as deemed by cgc)...resto could have been done double digit years ago (given it is in an old label, that is probable)...

is it "worth" 10K...my guess is that 10K is just about the floor for getting into "any" tec 31 that presents better than a pr/fr or incomplete...

I think alan sold his 3 side trimmed ext restored 6.5 copy for about 8500 or so (not privy to exact amount), so by comparison, I feel that the starting bid is maybe even too "low" (but without turning this into a sales promotion, I am biased) lol

That Tec 31 you've got on the Bay is a gorgeous copy, Gator!

For the boardie whom asked earlier -

Resto, even Extensive, seems to be smoldered when were talking about extremely demanded and tough GA books like the 31. (Though it still affects value, its not as hard as later issue)

This is probably a bad example but:

Tec 31's can sell from 3X to 5X guide - which is what we've all agreed is the general rule.

So a 7.5 Tec 31 by the guide alone is worth $34,218.75 - so if you take that by 3 to 5x you'll get a whopping sum. (In generally speaking a 7.5 Blue 31 might even hit 5x-10x in an auction format who knows.)

Now even though this Tec 31 has extensive resto....

This Tec 31 CGC 7.5 (EA) with an opening bid of $9,499 is a darn steal if it sold for that.
