Picked these up in tonight's CL auction. Thought I'd submitted a lowball bid on the #20, but ended up winning it. No bargain on the #21, but as soon as it was posted in the auction preview, months ago, I I knew I had to have it...

Seeing as how the books as of late have been of the higher grade ilk, I thought I'd share this fun lower grade (and amateur restored) copy that should be joining my collection in the very near future!

Congrats Jeff, you landed a keeper!

A white paged beaut, with nothing added to the cover.

Amazing book.

I concur, truly an amazing book. Good on you (thumbs u :applause:

Jeff... I still don't know how you can afford any more comics after the Superman #1! Doesn't it just make you a little ill to think some kids actually cut out that back cover? lol But who knew they'd be collectibles back then?

And nice 42--great Superman cover and one I have liked the look of since I first saw it in the GJ! Out of curiosity, did it grade as expected, higher, or lower?

Believe me, the coffers are running a bit thin these days after buying the Supes #1. I've had to sell pretty much all of my non-Supes, non-Action Golden Age to make it work.

As for the #42, I bought it as a 6.5 from Ted, so I knew it might be overgraded. He apparently missed the very minor glue & color touch, and I barely looked at the book before forwarding it to CGC. Now that I've found a #42, all I need is a presentable #51 to complete 29-63, all blue label! :cloud9:

Well, glad to hear you lucked out on the CT & glue to still keep the blue label. And that's an incredible run--what made you select those particular issues, if you don't mind my asking?

That run basically encompasses the war years. There are still a few war covers beyond #63, and I have #66 and #87, but there are a few others that I should pick up eventually.

I don't wanna start a big stink here, but Ted had to have known about the glue and CT cuz this is the same book I bought from him and then returned due to said glue and CT, after sending it to Kenny to verify, please tell me he told you and that you knew about the resto before buying it. also don't know how this book got a blue label.

even so, it is a great book and I would have kept it myself if not for the minor resto.
