Mr. Tiang Chirathivat and his son Samrit Chirathivat, the founders of Central Group of Companies said: "Our success grew out of our determination to bring Thailand into the modern world. We are committed to contributing to its prosperity and enhancing the quality of life of its people." To these days we proudly have lived up to such expectation with hopes of continuous expansion.

We trace our beginnings to a 1947 international book and magazine store, which, three years later, led to the founding of Central Trading. The company then began to expand into other merchandise and in 1956 opened the first department store in Thailand at Wangburapa

Any idea why that stamp would be on it?

My wife offers 2 theories:  this company may apply their stamp to all items they imported, or in the 30’s and 40’s, rather than using preprinted letterhead, businesses would use stamps to place their business information

My wife agrees the lettering in the top semi circle looks Thai to her, but insists the banner in the center are Chinese characters. She says it was common for Chinese businesses to run their businesses out of Thailand, especially the coastal areas.

Final question.... would this have been stamped overseas in Thailand or China or would this have been stamped here in the US at a Thai-American business or China-American business?

The comic with the stamp is FF 67 by the way

This is a Thai based company, but there are many ethnic Chinese in Thailand, and they are prominent in business.

I have imported goods from Thailand over many years, and it is quite common for Chinese businessmen to go by Thai names.

A quick Google Image search will bring up a multitude of BKK business premises with signs in Thai, Chinese and English.

I would say on arrival in Bangkok by the importers.

There must have been a demand for comic books and similar magazines in Thailand, otherwise Central would not have been involved in their importation and sale for at least 20 years.

The Chirathivat family is a Thai family of Chinese descent. The family was headed by Tiang Chirathivat, who migrated to Siam from Hainan and settled in Bangkok in 1927. Tiang's original Chinese surname was Cheng. He had 26 children with three wives that resulted in roughly 220 descendants today.

So no problem getting all his comic books stamped.
