Darwination
Out of register, shadow two sides, obnoxiously long stamp on skin tones - from New Jersey, enormous and disjointed star stamp - yeah, this copy has some issues The only issue in the run lacking "Real" in the title of Real Bedtime Tales/Real Boudoir Tales. Also the only Quintana cover in the run, as all of the others are Reginald Greenwood. Popular Post Darwination
A magazine that arrived today on my doorstep. The envelope actually came open at the top in transit There's some possible transit damage (nothing that can't be taken care of), but, on the other hand, the magazine is nicer than I thought would be in the listing. I paid a little over 30 for this before shipping, likely because of the funky accordion tear and horrible seller picture and info (couldn't see the stain on the right side that luckily is only on the cover). Surprisingly, the interior pages are in lovely condition, and there's a ton of gloss on the cover and photo section. I picked it up as a scanning copy (v01n01, a "key" mebbe), and it will serve that task quite nicely after I press it a bit, and it may stay in the pc afterwards to boot (no need to go after another copy considering I'm not exactly nuts for the cover). This is when the magazine was under Bow-Man ownership (S. Boehm and J. Mann) before the title was sold to Henry Marcus. Nice production values, really, with nice paper and printing on the middle photo section. If I'd paid a lot (or if I expected the seller to know better), I might have been upset with the packaging ,but as it is, I'm just happy to have gotten the issue even with the tear and stain for cheap. I think when @waaaghboss and I were looking at this issue earlier in the year from "taschadad" (whose handle pulpsters no doubt recognize as a longtime awesome pulp seller) that was graded VG that ended up selling for over $400. Not the scarcest issue (for a girlie pulp), I've seen this a good number of times compared to most of the other Bow-Man issues. Darwination
I pulled this one out tonight when I noticed I didn't have a raw cover scan of my own for the issue but only a restoration the scanner who was in a cash pinch did before he sold it to me I think there's a little sun-fade, but its still a beautiful pulp. I like the distinctive store stamp of collectors stamp on the back cover, too, M.A.R.? I'd pulled out a Popular Magazine for scanning tonight but am going with this issue instead. Outside of the Ward cover, it's stacked with great art from Max Plaisted, Clinton Spooner, and others as well as stories from Tom Kane, Maxwell Joffe, Pearle Botsford, etc. Might as well scan er since she's out of the bag dickymoe74, Pat Calhoun, waaaghboss and 1 other
Popular Post Darwination
Bah, I sadly realized mid-scan that the photo section was missing. Unlike most girlie pulps, the photo section in this era of Bedtime Stories was not at the centerfold, so it means 8 missing pages at two separate points in the mag. Usually, I don't mind a missing photo section much (though there were some great photographers and studios that had their work in them, even if the quality of printing is usually low), but this era of Bedtime Stories mixed the fiction amongst the girlies, so a number of stories are affected I tend to skip incomplete books as scanning material these days, but, on the other hand, it's not like there are many copies floating around, and half the stories are better than none. And what a gorgeous cover https://archive.org/details/bedtime-stories-v-04n-10-1936-08.-detinuer-incomplete-darwin-ia Clinton Spooner art Edited August 9 by Darwination Pat Calhoun, pmpknface, dickymoe74 and 2 others 4

There's a couple of these Ward Bedtime stories that are probably at the tip-top of my wantlist, and that might even include some of the more elusive Bolles.
