What mega-keys are in the SF collection?

Beerbohm says he sold a Detective 27 to Burrel Rowe that he swears was the SF. Burrel had a killer Detective 27. No clue as to who it was sold to when Burrel sold off his collection.

I suspect everyone feels the Promise Collection isn't even remotely close to the Mile High, but how far off?

The numerous examples of unnecessary over-grading have tainted my perception of the Promise collection.  Nevertheless, because of its vast scope and generally high grade quality, I would put the Promise collection in the top tier of pedigrees along with MH, SF, Allentown and maybe Larson.  However, it would be at the bottom of that top tier, definitely below MH and SF.

Unfortunately for the Promise Collection books, the quality of the grading of them was not commensurate (i.e. far inferior, inconsistent,  and somewhat suspect for some of the books) with the superior quality of the collection and hence has damaged the legacy of this pedigree collection in the eyes of some collectors within the hobby.  :(

Can't remember exactly who and not sure if I would go so far, but a couple of boardies here even stated that they would take the small, but super high quality 135 Allentown pedigree collection with all of their big big keys over the much larger 5,000 Promise Collection of books if they were given the choice between the two pedigree collections.  hm  (shrug)

what a tired litany.   but to touch on the "damaged the legacy..." point--every sunday nite i giggle as i see evidence of the lack of influence these boards have on the market, as promise book after promise book goes for tunz.   this little circle-jerk about the promise grading is fun, but inconsequential.   but please don't stop, it is entertaining as hell.

I wonder why CGC didn't note the pedigree and give it a pedigree label.

That's because the CGC serial number indicates the book was graded and slabbed back in March of 2019 and CGC did not designate the Cookville's as a pedigree until later that same year back in July of 2019.  :gossip:

I have a number of books with markings that lend themselves to possible pedigree designation that might've been missed when originally graded. The only thing these books have in common is high grade. Since they're graded technically aren't still in the wild, just possibly overlooked (so far) for pedigree inclusion... hm

Two with similar "checks" of "V" in pencil:

Two with the same "M" with arrival dates (the one on the HIT is fainter, but in the same hand):

An interesting "Ind" or similar penciled scribble (note: Think I might've overlooked one more of these while searching):

Are any of these pedigrees? (shrug)  Can't be sure, but they are all in grade, so it's entirely possible!
