According to Nielsen, Prey was watched over 585 million minutes in its first three days, meaning it was watched about 5.8 million times by Hulu subscribers (the film is 100 minutes long). The film debuted to the #4 streaming movie position in this week, falling behind Lightyear on Disney+ with 1.306 billion minutes watched, and Uncharted and Purple Hearts on Netflix, watched 1.014 billion minutes and 828 million minutes respectively. Prey did beat out some other major hits though, landing ahead of Netflix's The Gray Man.

Well.  "If" that same number translated into butts in seats in theaters, that "would have" been about 58MM for an opening weekend.

Do people seriously think this movie would have opened to nearly 60MM if it was released in theaters?

Of course they don't.

So what is a "hit" for streamers, when people can watch it as part of a free to $4.99 monthly subscription along with everything else the streamer has ?

I honestly don't know and no one has ever really tried to explain that.

Does anyone here really care “what it would have made” if released in theaters?  It did well for the streamer and we got a fun little flick that was better than the last one. Unbunch your panties.
