No rumor here.  And beyond that's what you heard, but that's not what I said kind of lipstick on a pig.  They're not even bothering to go that lame route.

The art of the Hollywood diss is unknowable to a plebe like myself - but I would imagine that this "exclusive" disavowal from unknown but verified sources (Gunn's office of course, who else) to the traditional mouthpiece Variety without any reference to the meet is the rudest, most embarrassing way to deliver the smackdown in a town where face and optics are everything.
