With all the announcements on RDJ, and the Russo brothers coming back into the Marvel Studio's payroll for the two Avengers movies, Dr Doom books look to be the next big market busting 'key' books on everyone's want-lists.

My guess is that this is not a book that shows up often enough for there to be any kind of sample in the handful of days since the announcement.

But let's hope so!

Dam, thats a nice copy.   This is where the rumours finally meet reality, and with a huge announcement along with it.

Wouldn't a lot of this have already been priced in as we anticipate the FF coming to the MCU?  Seems Doom and the Surfer have both seen plenty of attention over the past couple of years.

You’re right, but you can’t reason with the speculators. Spec is still very much alive on Doom with this announcement. FF #5, to me, is the only Doom “key” that matters if I were to speculate on the character and that book has seen all the graded books available gobbled up but there’s not as many of them out there that were readily available to really get a good gauge on the spec yet. If you want a really good tell look at Infamous Ironman #1 from 2016, this is a book (not the only book) where Doom becomes Ironman that went absolutely bonkers since this announcement. Here’s GPA in a 9.8:IMG_3298.thumb.jpeg.8ef7fa2ef997cc4e027635f43a22af77.jpeg

note: the high price in all of this is $400. That’s a price that is an all time high on this book. Previously during the Covid boom it was topped out at $274 in Sept of 2021. Which now, you’re lucky to get it for that price. Any book going that much higher than 2021 peak in 2024 is crazy. And it let’s you know the MCU speculation isn’t dead, just needs RDJ apparently.

I remember complaining in this thread at the time that this book massively undersold when I sent it in to CL even at the time. I try to avoid spec stuff as a general rule, but man this is looking really bad now.

I sold a 2.0 for $4,000 in January, it dropped to around $3,700 before the announcement, and now some sales since are:

eBay

1.8 $3,700

2.0 $3,800

2.0 $4,155

Facebook sale I saw yesterday

1.8 $3,700

There's a 2.0 currently for sale on IG (elite_comics11) for $3,900.

So it is trending up in low grade but just right back to where it was in the beginning of the year. (shrug)

I love that book, but I'd never pay to put a 2.0 of it in plastic.

That's the perfect book to own raw and enjoy flipping through while smelling the pages :)

^^ ya it was either it or strange tales annual 2, I went with FF as it is few and far between in my collection. No harm, no foul :)

I listed my MSH 20 7.0 a few days ago on ebay thinking it might sell high with the DocDoom news.  At the time the last sale was $305 so I started the bidding on mine at $350.  Apparently one sold a couple days ago for $400 (which is th highst sale on a 7.0 in about a year).

Mine has a bid at $350.  Hopefully it'll jump up to $400 (or more).  I'll let you know.

These 2 sales 1 week apart. $1680 wasn’t really that low either about what it’s been going for… someone or I guess 2 people went nuts tonight on this one on CL.

I was going to post about it as well. This is a dream scenario for the seller.

Yep. The 9.4 sold seconds later for $554 which is below the last 5 GPA sales which ranged between $600-$790. Very strange. But yeah that seller has to be quite pleased.

The 9.4 had light foxing on the cover, otherwise I am pretty sure it would have gone for more. In fact, without that I would have bid on it.

That makes sense. I still can’t get over that 9.8 price. I’ve not seen something that bizarre since the crazy times of 2021. You can literally get that book in a buy it now in a 9.8 for low 2,000’s on eBay any day of the week and people really bid it up to $4600?

This isn't a good explanation but I suppose it's possible that 2 people mistakenly looked at the Newsstand GPA prices of the book, which are coincidentally around $4600 (shrug)
