As you wait for CGC to grade your books - How do you feel when a daily email arrives announcing another private signing? 4 4

Here's my day (really almost every day) recently via text. 

DAY 1

Friend 1: Wow. Modern TAT is 89 days; MFT is 74 days. 

Friend 2: Still waiting on {whatever date} shipment to even show as received in the system, much less verified

Friend 1: x/y slabs all have problems in my latest order.  

Me: Good news, they announced a Starlin private signing.  That should help with all of their delays. 

DAY 2: 

Friends: Same complaints

Me:  Well, I'm sure they'll announce another private signing

DAY 3: 

Friends: Same complaints

Me: LOLOLOLOLOLOL  They just announced a Jim Lee signing that's going to swamp them with books.  HAHAHA, they also promise a 6 week TAT on those books.

I would just like my three reholder books that were delivered to Sarasota May 4th to be entered into the system.

It depends.

If the person doing the signing is rolling in cash (big movie stars) I groan and roll my eyes.

If it's a veteran creator (like Jim Starlin) who did work-for-hire for decades and had to fight to get Marvel to pay him when his creations became part of a billion dollar franchise, I'm all for it. His work enriched my childhood and is part of the hobby I love. He also hurt his hand and couldn't work for years. I hope he gets a fat signing payday.

What would annoy me would be certain dealers or auction houses jumping the line, which I'm sure they do.

I mean, do you really think Heritage submits books and they sit in RECEIVED for 4 months?

Friend 1: Despite explicitly telling me in advance they were going to pay shipping back to me on that box of {insert 1/6 different QC slab problems}; they f'd up and charged me anyway.  Now I have to call and deal with that.  Well, I called and it took talking to 3 different people before they acknowledged that I shouldn't have been charged.

It takes them roughly a month to even open up a package. If they do another Mcfarlane people will be measuring TATs in years. When is the last time they didn't have some signing going on?

Meh, maybe not a popular opinion but I always feel like anyone willing to spend $875 on a Jim Lee sign/sketch deserves the express treatment over me who sent in modern slow track books. I always look at is that’s part of what people are paying for in those fees. And I say that as someone who has never sent for a CGC signing event and currently has 75 books sitting somewhere at CGC.

I'm beginning to think that when you become employed by CGC, they remove your entire digestive system and the only way you can gain sustenance is through borg-like implants that they stick into you that tap directly into the angst generated on the boards. It would explain so much.

I roll my eyes at Diego Luna, Sara Frazetta, and anyone else that is going to gummy up the lines...  Out of every signing they have had, I have participated in two.   I did the first McFarlane thing because... McFarlane.  I did the Eastman one because I hang around a boardie that religiously collects Turtles and the itch rubbed off on me to submit a book just because.   I have not submitted for any other signing and and do not plan to.

However, I usually send books down and the TAT's still give me pause to do so.   So.. no books sent.

Nobody cares about the 50 people who might pay that for a sketch.  Be worried about the 2000+ who will pay $110 to have a scribble on their Wildstorm #47.

Even though I have participated in several of these. I still feel like a lot of these signings are just a huge 

When they can not get their TAT under control and the major issues getting past QC .

Thats still a lot more than the $22 someone else is paying to send in the Wildstorm 47 for grading without the scribble. At the end of the day you can send a book thru express without the scribble for about the same price as $110 you quoted and get it back sooner.
