PGM Pre-code Horror book
3 3

17 posts in this topic

I recently got in this book. Looks real nice with no tears or creases. Tight, smooth spine and white pages.

Problem is the large piece out of back cover. And the stain on right side.

Question is how bad is it hammered because of it?

I’m real happy for the price and it “Looks great in a Mylar”. :roflmao:

Thanks in advance!

These words make my heart happy.

1.0

There's just enough of the back cover still intact to keep it from a 0.5. Any more missing and it would be. That's the severe flaw and everything else, including the stain, is acceptable in this range.

Thanks for posting. I saw pre-code horror and jumped in to see it. Cool cover.

Agreed!  That's why I bumped up my grading to a 2.0 (thumbsu.  Curious to see how it all pans out.

If it was missing from the front ? further down it goes... but front cover is a major component ... back ? just an ad... and often something no one wanted. GOD BLESS...

Agree with the strict 1.0s per CGC standards. They're not consistent on everything, but given the amount of real estate missing on the back I think they are fairly consistent on this.

Yep. No better than a 1.0. Doesn't matter how pretty the cover is.

Here's one of mine that got a 0.5 for a wedge out of the back.

I remember that one. Thought for sure that should've been a 1.0.  (shrug)

Thanks for your opinions guys. I think zzutak’s excellent example kind of seals it for me at 1.0. If I were to sell the book, I would probably go with that.

That being said if I bought the book as a 1.5, I would be OK with it. It is a tight, smooth spine, bright, nice front cover and white pages. Presents great in a Mylar.

It was an eBay purchase with no specific grade but good pictures and faults noted. I was very happy for what I paid.

Thanks for your opinions!
